Is The Flamingo as bad as all that?

Stayed at the Flamingo last October. We had a GO Room that overlooked the strip, could see the Bellagio Fountains, which I absolutely loved! The room was comped, so I can't help you at all with comparisons, and I've never stayed at Bally's in Las Vegas. But, we did talk to another guest who was in a deluxe room and she said it was awful. So, we figured we would never stay there w/o a GO Room.

But, I love the Flamingo. I love the garden area (great for relaxing with morning coffee). I also like the outside bar that is near the Video Poker Bar, I believe. Anyway, this bar is covered, so you don't cook while sitting outside, and its a nice place to sit with a drink and people watch. I also like the coconut smell as you walk in, although I guess there are those who don't . . . Lastly, the location is fantastic!

So, if you can get a GO Room, I would definitely say give the Flamingo a try!
I have stayed at Flamingo three times now. The first time was because it was a place I hadn't been to and i wanted to go to their pool. The room wasn't so good but I didn't mind. Last time was for our wedding and we stayed there on 5 nights comped with the plan of upgrading to a GO room which we did. I liked the room and my wife loved it.

I like the Flamingo because to me it is Vegas. I like being able to be playing a slot or even a table game and walk just a few feet and be on the strip. I am curious to see how this change with the pool will be. We are going back this summer for a week and are using comps again. This time our choice for the five nights included IP, Harrahs, Ballys, PH, Caesars and Flamingo Deluxe GO strip view. My wife chose the Flaming-O once again. We typically don't spend much time gambling at Caesars and end up walking to a lot of other places.

I really think it is what you prefer. No one is right or wrong about where the choose to stay.

I'm staying the the basic rooms in eleven days. They were free, so I'll get my money's worth. Anyone know if their pool is open yet? I know a round of weather in the 60s is coming, but it's supposed to be mid 70s by the time we get there.
