Just Booked Harrah's

I was surprised today to be able to book five nights comp at Harrah's after three trips last year with low play. I have only been using them for the rooms and playing some, but spending most of my quality play downtown or other casinos with better VP. Over ten nights in Vegas comp last year at Harrah's, I just barely made platinum and actually had to drive to Shreveport, LA one afternoon to play a few hours to earn about 75 points to get platinum level to give you an idea of how "low" my play was at Harrah's. I was expecting some discounted room, but they comp me at every casino other than Ceasar's and Ceasar's over five nights was only $120. I was Diamond for many years before that and last year was my first year that I wasn't Diamond in about 6 or 7 years. I use to average about 20k points a year and last year just barely got over 4k points for the year over 10 nights. The year before that I just barely made Diamond at 11k. Do you think Harrah's is comping me because they want me back or my current level of play warrants the comp room? Keep in mind I don't ask for anything other than basic rooms (I just sleep there) and never ask for much more above and beyond that other than points I might earn that I will use on meals, etc. I am only asking because I want to earn the room so to speak, but I don't want to play more than necessary so I can concentrate my play on higher pecentage VP elsewhere. Any idea of the minimum play through I should give to them for a wash? BTW, I could get the same room I booked online for the five nights for just under $500.

I don't know what their formula is but me and my wife have been getting room comps for many years and neither one of us is even platinum.We're both gold. I'm basically a 10-25 dollar table game player and play very little slots. I could be wrong but I don't think table players ever get to platinum. Maybe they do if they're playing black chips.

I believe CET has a philosophy that they don't make money off of in empty room. That's why they have always been generous with room comps to low rollers.

It could be supply and demand. When you booked online supply exceeded demand. As for your play, play the amount that feels right to you.

We are minimal gold card players at CET properties. I play low level tables and my wife plays mostly nickel slots only a few times a year in AC and once a year in LV. We too could stay at Harrahs LV any time comped. I would have stayed at Caersars for the $120. But that's me. Good luck.

I think they are just as inept when sending out comps as they are at everything else.

We still get all kinds of offers even though we don't play there hardly at all other than to keep our accounts active. I got three nights during March Madness last year, at Harrahs, and didn't play there at all and yet the offers keep coming.

Make sure you ask for a room that doesn't overlook the carnival court unless that appeals to you. Also check out the pizza place on near the north exit door from the casino on the strip. (under McDonalds)

Azrobert, been going to Vegas for many years and that little pizza joint outside of Harrah's is one of my favorites. I did talk to Harrah's about construction, etc. and heard some complain about noise, dust, etc. so we decided to move to Ceasar's and just got a basic room for $160 (it was $120 the first time I checked it so I guess it went up) for five nights. Still, with no resort fees, etc. $160 is cheap. I am happy with that although I have personally never been a big fan of Ceasar's.

That's a very good price for Caesars. They used to be a favorite for me but, I'm not sure what it is but, I really don't enjoy gambling there anymore although we usually tour through the shops just to see what is changed...used to have a very good Italian restaurant there, Bertollinis but, it is gone.

Probably best to walk on that side of the strip anyway. Good luck during your trip...we are waiting for football season and will be headed out in Sept.
