Just Made Diamond -- Will I Get 2 $100 Dining Certificates?

Mare,

I have not yet received the brochure but that really sucks. So will we get the $100 certificate for making 15,000 LAST year, in 2013? Seems like they would have to honor this and that the new brochure is saying whomever earns 15,000 THIS year won't get a certificate. That really sucks but I hope and assume we'll get the certificate after 4/1 for earning Diamond last year. What do you think?

I received my 2014 Diamond brochure in today's mail. FFlowers-I used the $100 dining certificate last weekend, that I had picked up in November. It expires the end of this month. I am assuming that the certificate was for me making Diamond during 2013, I was Diamond in 2012 but didn't receive a dining certificate for that year.
Let me see if I can clear this up. When you acheive Diamond status, you are diamond for the rest of that year, and diamond until April 1of the next year. When you acheive Diamond (15000 tier credits) you get a $100 celebration dinner, which is basically a $100 gift certificate that you can use in the restaurant of your choice. You can use this $100 in that year, or until April 1 of the following year. I just used mine that was earned in 2013, while I was in Vegas last week for March Madness. We used it at Gordon Ramsey's pub and grill, which was excellent, No hassles and no problems using it, very easy. The four of us ate for $40 which includes alcohol and a 20 percent tip. I have already achieved 12000 points for 2014, once I hit 15000, I will get another $100 celebration dinner for this year, which I can use from that point up until April 1 of 2015. Finally, this promotion is kept pretty quiet, so I will tell you how to get it. Whatever restaurant you want to go to, go to the Total REwards booth at that casino, and hand them your diamond card and id and tell them you want to get your $100 celebration dinner. They will check and see if it is accepted at your restaurant, and then they will hand you a receipt-type paper, which is what you take to the restaurant. It was very easy and hassle free. I hope that answers your question. Like I said, they keep it prettty quiet, but everyone should definitely take advantage of this offer. If you are diamond you certainly earned it! : )
Thanks Marcus. I still think there's an issue about the certificates moving forward. Both DBueler and I got $100 certificates last summer that we used. At that point, neither of us had made Diamond in 2013 but we both had made Diamond in 2012 and my understanding is that we got the certificates as part of something special CET was doing for folks who made Diamond in 2012 as part of the transition to the new tier system/levels.

Well, people who were not Diamond in 2012 but who made Diamond in 2013 also received a certificate last year. When I made Diamond in the summer of 2013 I therefore thought I would get a certificate but it appeared I would have to wait until April 1st of this year if CET was only providing one certificate a year. So, for my trip in a bit more than 2 weeks, I'm expecting to receive a $100 dining certificate for having earned Diamond last year. If I don't, that's false advertising in my view as this was stated as a benefit for the aspirations level 1 (then 15,000 but as of 4/1/14, 40,000) in 2013. It would also be unfair to people who were diamond in 2012 and 2013 and yet received only one certificate rather than two.

I've already earned Diamond in 2014 that will make me Diamond through March 31st of next year. Based on what Mare said it sounds like the new brochure, related to the old Diamond Level Tier 1 (now 15,000) is doing away with the $100 certificate.

My bankroll for my last trip and the upcoming one is, for me, very good and so while I won't miss the $100 certificate in a major way in a financial sense it is, at a minimum, annoying that CET would take away what was not a super expensive for them but nevertheless nice perk for Diamond 15,000 TC players. The crappy renewal gifts I'm hearing about are kind of like salt on an open wound.

In retrospect, it looks like the $100 certificates were all about softening the blow about raising the Diamond requirement from 11,000 to 15,000 and now that the transition has taken place CET is transitioning out the certificates and instead you have to earn tens of thousands of more tier credits (now 40,000) to receive a $100 dining certificate. That's disappointing.

So the benefits from Diamond go back basically to 2 free show tickets a month, the diamond lounges, and shorter lines. Given that I like staying in CET hotels making Diamond is still worth it for me and I can earn 15,000 TCs over the course of the year relatively easily but the decision is annoying and has me thinking about diversifying my play even more to non-CET properties. (I'm planning for a day or two of blackjack and VP play at Bellagio so my main casinos would be Bally's, Cosmo and Bellagio + El Co downtown and a dose of Goldcoast or Palace Station for bingo.) CET will always be a "base" for me during a trip but now I'll focus on mixing it up even more. (As Jean said many years ago, don't get married to a casino.) That's CET's loss.

Actually Flowers you are incorrect. You still get $100 dining certificate at 15,000 points. From the Total Rewards website, under "view benefits". Diamond Aspirations-Aspiration Level 1: 15,000 tier credits. "Unlock a $100 celebration dinner to treat yourself and anyone else you want to invite for any occasion you choose." This comes directly from the Total Rewards website, today, right now. Go check it out yourself. Glad to help. (However, I guess they could change it on April 1, but it seems odd that it would be there one day, and change the next day. We shall see on April 1.)
Looks like you were right Flowers, I stand corrected, and apologize for my error. As of today, the new Diamond Aspiration 1 is 40,000, and no longer 15.000. I know I will not even try to get 40,000, so apparently you no longer get the $100 celebration dinner at 15,000 points. That is quite an increase, over 2.5 times, which I let them know on the phone (after holding for 17 minutes, no kidding)

Yep, they've managed to screw the player once again. No more $100 diamond celebration at 15,000 tier points! They used to call 15k tier Diamond Aspirations Level 1 -- no more.

Now it's:

Aspiration Level 1 40,000 tier credits
Unlock a $100 folio credit when you take advantage of your complimentary four-night stay at any Total Rewards destination. Also, plan a trip to Las Vegas where you will reach new heights with a High Roller Experience for two - you'll relax aboard a comfortable cabin on the largest observation wheel in the world.

Aspiration Level 2 80,000 tier credits
Unlock an Annual Retreat to any Total Rewards destination with a $750 airfare credit, a New Year's Eve offer, VIP transportation between the airport and a Total Rewards destination, a Companion Card to share your priority service benefits with a friend, early check-in/late check-out, an upgrade to a best available room at check-in, and reimbursed fees on check cashing and credit card advances.

So now there's nothing beyond the normal diamond benefits upon reaching reaching 15k tier.

I just received my 2014 brochure & agree with you 100%.

+1 re receiving the brochure and no problem Marcus. I appreciate your trying to help answer the question!
It does appear that the new brochure means no $100 dining certificate at 15k tier points anymore, but Seven Stars Insider is reporting that we still get it. I'll believe it when I see it. I'm not staying at a CET property again until May 31, so I'm hoping others will be able to find out before then. I'd like to use it in June when I take my sister IF it's still available, but I can't count on that, at this point.
I asked a host in Cleveland Friday. He said he wasn't sure and asked someone else who said yes, you do get it! She was supposed to be well informed about the changes. I'm with you Mare, Ill believe it when someone uses it! I am diamond this year already and haven't checked about using it as we can only get buffets with it in Cleveland.
