Linked accounts

A couple of times people have mentioned linked accounts through TR. What are the benefits/disadvantages of having linked accounts? Also if hubby and I link accounts and say I'm 2000 tier points from making diamond and he has just over 2000 tier points would that make us diamond? Also do our TR points combine? What about promotions like the great race--do we both get to do it or only one of us??

Should I just ask someone at a TR booth on our trip next week???
I don't think your TR points combine but it helps in your room comps for sure. A lot of times when I book our rooms, I look to see what sort of comp rooms I can get with each individual TR number. Then I check pricing entering his number with mine and we usually get better comps, more free nights or better hotel rooms.
Your tier points don't combine. I think the only benefit left is you can use your spouses reward credits if you run out, but only in Nevada and California. Nice thing is it happens automatically. Not sure if pulling reward credits from the other accounts triggers a trip for them or not, that's possibly the only disadvantage that I know of.
Your accounts remain separate and you can each participate in promotions.
As far as getting better room rates/comped room, any 2 players can share a room, you don't have to have linked accounts.
Bamboozled, thanks for the tip on the room ressies, I didnt know if my sis and I go together I can put her # in as companion, I just figured the accounts had to be linked.

Sorry, auto correct changed your name gamboozler!
