Louisiana Downs - Bossier City

Has anyone stayed/played there? How is the VP there?

I can get a comped room at Springhill Suites which is on the property. HOw is this place and how safe is the area?

Any comments??

Springhill Suites is great - one of those small, modern, clean, efficient hotel rooms. It is part of the Marriott Chain -- but don't expect any sort of luxury - just efficiency. It is attached to Harrah's Louisiana Downs race track. Ask for a room with a view of the race track so you can watch the early morning workouts (if any). Right now there is live thoroughbred racing which ends Sept. 23.

Louisiana Downs and the Springhill Suites are a good 10-minute drive from the Horseshoe, further down I-20 Eastward. A little long, but not too bad. I did not feel that it was an unsafe area in any way. I do not know anything about slots or VP at the track itself.

But I do know about VP at the Horseshoe. VPFree2 is accurate on that. We play the 3/5 uprights with good payouts on the middle (main) floor, and some of the slant-tops with lesser payouts on the bottom floor in both quarters and dollars. They also have some 50 and 100 play with fairly good payouts.

The Horseshoe is a fine, swanky hotel that is beginning to show its age (and lack of Jack Binion's touch), with a great Diamond lounge, so if you can possibly stay there, it might be better; although Springhill is just fine.

If you play VP, you might want to check with Louisiana Downs to determine if they were ever allowed to add VP back. A few years back they had to remove all VP machines. I am almost certain they do not have any VP at LD and you will need to shuttle or drive to Horseshoe (still Harrahs) for VP. I don't know if it has changed. Horseshoe does have decent VP though.
I haven't been there in about 2 years or so, but they didn't have any video poker then. No table games. It's just slots and the horse track.

I just got an offer for Horseshoe, so since no VP at LA Downs, I decided to book there.

Thanks to everyone.
