Luxor or NYNY??

Im working on my 2nd 2 night comped stay through MYVgeas. Just got the Mirage fri-sun for weekend of october 9-11, through Myvegas. I've already earned enough points for weekend at Luxor but Im also within earshot of 2 weekend nights at NYNY  Both availablilty calenders show all but 10/9 available. Room would be for either my 29 year old son and his girl or my 2 30 something year old daughters. Wife and I are locked in for 7 days at Ballys.

Appreciate any positive feedback. None of my kids are gablers ( other than maybe 20.00 dollars here or there)

Not really any differnce between the 2 imo. I would just take the Luxor and save the points. I dont think NYNY would be a reason to spend more points on free nights. Unless you care about the distance between the resort they are staying and Ballys. In that case NYNY is slightly closer.

The Luxor is farther away from the rest of the Strip; south of it, there's pretty much nothing, and it's a fair walk to anything else. NYNY is more centrally located. The stroll down the Strip from Tropicana to Flamingo is a cool experience for people who just want to sightsee. You also have a lot more nearby food options (I wouldn't plan to eat at either the Luxor or NYNY; for that matter, I wouldn't plan to do ANYTHING at either property).

The Luxor has a free tram to Excalibur, which would put them in a busier part of the strip.  NYNY does have a coaster,  The NYNY pool looks small & plain as I remember.  Their food court is decent

It would be a very poor idea to ride that tram, or a Strip bus for that matter, because of the crowds waiting to board and the impossibility of social distancing while aboard.

I would feel differently about that if people were wearing masks. But they're not--especially when they're outside. The current conditions won't have changed by October.

I agree with Kevin.  We should stay in our homes until 2030.  That way, we will all be safe.

That's the type of idiot rhetoric that has caused people to prematurely gather in large crowds, sicken, and die.

Any responsible person will assess the risks in coming to Vegas and make an informed decision at the time.

Luxor's days are rumored to be numbered which is a shame because that might be the coolest themed hotel on the strip.

I would also add I enjoy the shows and exhibits at Luxor - but since I believe those are closed right now I dont think its worth noting.

My opinion in general - since most of the high end ammentites are either closed or severly limited I dont think it makes sense to pay up for rooms.   And if the pools are closed you need to ask yourself what exactly is the resort fee for?     I dont thinkI'm going to Vegas in the current environment but if I was I'd go to a cheaper place like Stratosphere or Tropicana.       I wouldn't pay $150 a night for close access to shows/sights/and ammenities that are closed.

I never found it a long wait for the tram.

Luxor's pool is open.  But the tram between Luxor and Excal/Man Bay is is not running.
