Playing History:
As a Platinum card holder - Spent 3 nights @ Caesars back in April 2010, racked up 4125 tier points. That's it !! Never been back since.

I guess I should consider myself lucky. But it would not surprise me to see something different after April 1st.

Opinions ?

Although you didn't meet any specific criteria for Diamond, 4125 tier in a weekend is certainly Diamond level play. I'd say they're taking a chance that it will help get you to come back. And I'd say it's good marketing on their part. If you come play another 4125 tier because you're diamond it's worth the diamond privledges they gave you. The only way they're out anything is if you come and use the diamond lounge without playing. And while that's possible for an LVA member, I'd suggest that less than 1% of the general public would do that.

Enjoy!

If you made 3000 of those points in one day, you achieved DIAD anyway, which is probably why you're Diamond. Congrats! Enjoy the bennies....though they're not nearly as good as the ol' days.
