MGM Grand Yea or Nay?

Trying to put together my December trip. I have MGM room comps.  Leaning towards the MGM Grand primarily because I like to spend time at the center strip and the MGM grand has a monorail station which should make it easy for me to get back and forth.   Does anybody have any compelling reason not to stay here?

My other options are the Bellagio or Aria but I am not sure I want to blow all my myVegas points on those places. They also may be a bit too fancy for my lowbrow tastes.

It seems like a long, long, long walk to get anywhere in that place, but since I shun the Strip megatoilets in general, I don't know if that's any better at the Fromaggio or Aria.

It is a huge property & the monorail is a hike (a plus if you want your 10,000 seps in)

There are a number of You tube videos on the hotel.  Travel Ruby just did one

Tom, I have seen that video. My takeaway was dated room like most of the MGM properties.

I was thinking today I ought to just cough up the $33 a night to stay Bally's before they raise the room rates when it becomes the 🧲 Either that or the Linq.

MGM Grand is what it is..a huge sprawling resort. As tom pointed out, it's a hike to the monorail station at MGM Grand; subsequently , depending on where one stops in the mid-Strip area along the monorail run, it can be another hike to access other casinos from monorail stops. If you don't mind walking a bit for access, those factors might not be a big deal. Dining options are numerous and span the cost scale..from a food court, a buffet, and up. If pool complexes are important to you, theirs is massive and ranked highly among Strip resorts.

Many Vegas visitors do not recommend the West Wing rooms at MGM Grand..they're usually the least expensive room options and are comparatively small. But they might just fit your self-stated lowbrow tastes. We often stayed in the Grand Tower , 2-Queen rooms in the past and , other than walking distances from the elevators, the rooms were OK.

There was a time ( in the neighborhood of ten + years ago) that the SO and I called the MGM Grand our go-to Vegas Strip resort, largely due to customer service levels at the time and the fact that they offered some of the better 3:2 blackjack games on the Strip at reasonable minimums. That's all history now. Have a good trip wherever you end up.

If you have options at the center of the maelstrom ( Flamingo and the Strip), I suggest you research just how difficult it is to get a cab/bus/Uber/sedan chair in and out of there. My vacation time is valuable to me, and time spent waiting waiting waiting in cab or bus boarding lines is subtracted from time I could be enjoying myself.

This is why I stay at off-Strip places. The Strip holds no allure for me anyway. I think you can get trapped into staying on the Strip because of offers from the We Love You Rewards Program or whatever that you just HAVE to use. It's much better to stay at places like South Point or Orleans and hop on a bus if you want your Strip fix. But aside from the exploding tigers and porn slappers, there's nothing on the Strip that you can't get at South Point or the Orleans (and usually much cheaper).

I'd agree with the appeal of South Point as they continue to give players and visitors a generally fair shake and there's no question that dining and other

patron costs are less expensive vs the Strip. I'd venture further to say their players club promos and rewards are much preferable to the grand majority of Strip properties in my somewhat limited experience @ SP ( though TI is as good as these factors get for players on the Strip proper, imo). Their VP paytables and blackjack games are playable at reasonable denoms / minimums, too.

I just need to isolate the ideal bribery factor to unload on my wife so we can actually stay there. We've spent a fair amount of time at SP gambling and dining..just no sleepovers as yet.Truth is, I could just suggest it and she'd accept..maybe next trip.

We stayed at the Grand and i have to say it was a very good stay. I used the MGM app to check in, was surprised at how efficient it was. Didn't have to stand in line to check in or out. Also the app has perks but most importantly it has info on the huge place. We found the staff was super nice, accomodating, and happy to see us.The food, whether at the restaurants or at the fast food court was good and service outstanding. We played and did ok. The room was fine, clean, and they offer daily room cleaning, something that isn't always done now days.

Grand was fine, but i agree, don't waste your time with the monorail. A lot of walking and not something I'd do at  night.

The strip is dirty and smelly. Wife says it smells like skunk but its the weed, it permiates the air. I certainly won't do Freemont for reasons of safety and panhandling gone mad. I also suggest that you don't take kids there since there's a bunch of weirdness they don;'t need to be exposed to.

Orleans has a special favor with us, great place to eat. Slots are ok but the staff is awesome.

Many of you don't know there's a Chinatown, one place you should go see and eat or get a massage at. Also my favorite breakfast joint is the Egg&I, always crowded but really a great place. You'll need a car or UBER for these places.

i would really like to try the new World Resorts hotels, may do that next time around. Any idea when the Fountainblue is scheduled?

my two cents for what it;s worth.....
