MGM Resorts lays of 254 workers, more to come
Looks like all the "feeing" may be catching up to these greedy bastards?
I don't like hearing about people losing their jobs, but MGM Resorts International employs 83,000 people world wide.
Bean counters protecting their ass. They don't care about anything but the bottom line and getting theirs. This has and will go on for time immortal.
They're not getting anymore of my business.
The person who wrote the headline of that article should be send back to typing class. Or fire the proof reader.
I didn't see locations or job titles of the 254.
According to the conference call they lost double digits in gaming revenue from their Vegas properties....largely due to a drop in table games. Maccau is doing much better. (You'll hear a similar story from Las Vegas Sands Corp)
Are people boycotting the properties that charge for parking on the strip? I know I am.
Seems like Vegas is rolling towards another bubble. Lots more hotel rooms opening up in the near future while Vegas revenues continue to drop. SOmething has got to give at some point. I have a funny feeling those parking fees wont be around two years from now. Lets see.
According to the Review Journal, the drop in baccarat is the culprit. I'd love it to be the constant "feeing" instead.
Today's LVA reports Wynn has ended parking fees. A sign of things to come?
From the Review Journal, supposedly the end of parking fees at Wynn was because Venetian and TI, geographically close competetors, had no parking fees. MGM's CEO specifically said they would NOT remove parking fees. Caesars was also not likely too. The MGM and Caesars resorts are clustered close to each other, and have no reason to give up.
