It was originally Empire City & owned by a wing of the Rooney family (of Steelers game).
They had the good sense to run it like a Vegas locals casino. Monthly mailers with food discounts & free play coupons. Daily free play bonuses & food discounts. Good cheap entertainment.
MGM bought it last February & they think they have a strip casino.
No more food discounts, free play mailers are smaller, entertainment cut back. Daily free play bonuses are tighter.
The result is is smaller crowds.
I know now they are waiting for NYS to approve sports gambling & table games, but that is not on the agenda for a while.
