My Flamingo Review

Arrived about 3 pm and check in line was long. After getting in line I noticed a much shorter line and the sign for it said it was for "Gold Card" members. I was shocked since Gold card is the basic card. Usually special lines are for the upper tier members, but I was very glad since I'm just a Gold carder. I left the long line and went to the shorter Gold card line.

They also have a self check in machine next to the check in counter but since I wanted to see if I could get a comp upgrade (had just booked a basic delux room) I wanted to check in with a person. I asked if I could get a high floor with a view of the strip (had my $20 under my cc) but she said it would cost me extra $$ per night (can't remember the amount). I was staying there by myself (hubby had to stay in LA on business) so I didn't want to pay extra $$ so I declined. She did say she could get me a high floor, pool view so I said ok. That room was a Fab room in the "Habitat" bank of elevators which are by the Cafe and hard to find when you don't know the layout of the place yet.

Although the room decor is better than I thought it would be and it is roomy, the pool view wasn't really a "pool" view but an outdoor view and just ok. Like others on lva have said, they didn't remodel the bathroom in the Fab rooms at all and it is small and rundown looking. I'm glad I didn't tip for this room. If my husband and I ever stay here I will spring for the extra $$ and try a Go room even though I really don't like the look of that decor. It would be worth it just to have a better bathroom.

Also, as others have said, the walls are paper thin. Not only could you hear people in the hallway, the most disturbing to my sleep was having to listen to loud vacuuming from housekeeping in the mornings. At first I thought it was construction noise but then realized it was vacuuming!

Pros: Price. Fab room is very roomy. Great pool and strip location.
Cons: No good gambling (no $5 bj with 3:2 payout or $5 craps at all anytime plus no good vp)!!! Super thin walls and small, rundown bathroom.

Not sure I will stay there again. If they had better gambling I could probably put up with the noise for just a day or two, wouldn't stay any longer. But bad gambling and noisy hallways - not a good combo. I'll have to check the Go room reviews again and see if those rooms have thin walls too.

The only real problem I've had with noise in the GO rooms (other than a$$holes screaming and running in the halls, which can and does happen in any hotel) is when I had an adjoining door. Otherwise, no problem.

I travel on business every week and regardless if it's a Hilton prop or a CET prop, I always request a room with no adjoining door.

I moved from the Orleans last week (which has very thick walls) to the Flamingo and the Flamingo was SO much quieter.... the Orleans had tons of HS basketball boys teams and there isn't a wall or door made that can drown that out. The flamingo seemed like quiet piece of heaven... It's all relative!

My room did have an adjoining door but I didn't have any problems with noise from people in that room. Most of my noise problems were from the hallway and the cleaning staff. I was worried about 8:30 pm my first night. Came back to room to freshen up after dinner and the room before mine (not the adjoining room) had music blaring from it and you could here guys singing to the music from the hallway. Since I was going back out I thought I'd see what it was like when I came back later that night. Luckily all was quiet then.

On this trip my first two hotels had been the Golden Nugget - nice quiet room where we didn't even hear a peep from anyone in the hallway and a Doubletree hotel in Anaheim in which the room was also very quiet with no noise from the hallway either. Those rooms had me spoiled! I do usually expect some hallway noise but never have heard the cleaning crew like I did in the Flamingo room.
