My Take on the New Total Rewards Tier System

So, I put it to the test last Monday at Rincon in San Diego, a Caesar's property.

The day was also a multiple point day (every Monday and Wednesday this month are multiple point days as well as play 50 points and get a free buffet or $20 food credit in any restaurant--a deal in itself)

I played dollar VP (8/5 BP) and it took most the day, but I did manage 2556 points. The boothling told me to wait a couple of days and the bonus 5000 tier points would be added)

Today, I checked and sure enough 7556 tier points. One more day like this and I'll be Diamond through March 2015.

I used the $20 food coupon in the coffee shop (their prime rib breakfast skillit is the BEST).

The one thing that has me concerned is I'm supposede to have also received 4x reward comp credits for the play and it did not reflect that in my bonus point total...however, I also know that many times, it takes a week or so for the computers to catch up and add those...so we'll see.

Here I thought with the raising of the required total for diamond to 15,000 points would mean a big reduction next year in diamond players, I'm now convinced that there will be more than ever. I dare see, it now seems easier than ever to make diamond.

As it was discussed in other posts, Caesar's goal here is to get people to play more during the day; which seems like a good idea.

So, here I was already to throw my Diamond card into the trash heap at the end of the year, it appears I'll be hanging around for much longer. If I were to take a guess into the future, I'll bet they will once again change the system in a couple of years, if not before.
i play vp. what about bj and others? table games need a lot more.
Does anyone know anything on expiration of diamond? I got my diamond in Dec of 2012 which makes it good till March of 2014, right? With the new system is there a change on when new diamond expires--I just got back from a 2 day trip to Southern Indy where I got 4700 points, if I get my 15,000 points say in June when does it expire? Thanks

Thanks for the update. Let's see if this proves true about more diamond players with new system. It still seems that DIAD at 3,000 points is more attractive than two 2,500 point days.

But isn't DIAD now 5000 pts?
Thanks, Jon for this info. Are you comfortable sharing how you came out after that 2500 point session? So when you hit 15,000 points you'll be a Level III Diamond - is that correct?
Agnes, I believe you are correct, DIAD is now 5000 points.

Pergande, one needs 15,000 points to make diamond status this year or renew for 2014. One needs 40,000 tier credits for Level II Diamond and 80,000 tier credits for Level III Diamond.

Time will tell if the new system will increase or decrease the number of diamond players. I wonder how many of the weekly (or more frequent) players have the budget and/or are willing to change how they play to a couple big play days a year.

If you earned 11,000 tier points or more in 2012, your diamond status is good for all of 2013, technically through March 31, 2014. Cards with the new expiration date are mailed at the end of March. You sometimes can get them sooner at the total rewards desk. Earning 15,000 or more tier credits anytime during 2013 earns you diamond status for all of 2014.
I have no problem sharing the results:

I took a grand and I played mostly 8/5 dollar Bonus Poker (the only playable VP game there under $5...yes, Rincon has a $100 VP game with 9/6 Jacks...I watched a lady play $500 in one hand, hit a three of a kind and had to wait for the WG form).

Anyway, in December when I needed another 2K tier points to have Diamond renewed for 2013, I hit quad Aces twice ($400 each) and went home with a small profit having played the necessary 20K through the machine); however, this time around I didn't catch and quad Aces. I did manage a couple of other bonus quads, but end up losing a little over $600. So, not a good day, but I did manage the 25K play necessary.

Hopefully, better luck on the next trip.
