New Visa Card

Hmmmm. Wonder if I should worry that I never got an email about platinum status. Card is here as is the buffet redemption voucher thing.
I just checked my emails, nothing that says I've been moved up to Platinum. The Total Rewards site still shows me as Gold.
So we did a last minute, spur of the moment, trip to Harrah's Rincon tonight. Went straight to the Total Rewards counter and asked about my Platinum membership that comes with the Visa card. The young man was completely perplexed, but very nice about it and went to ask his supervisor.

The supervisor seemed a little perturbed about the question when we saw her in the back. However, the nice young man came out and explained that corporate would be updating my account within 30 days of receiving the credit card. Once it's in the system, they can give us a new card.

Since the credit card is linked to my total rewards card, I'm going to assume my partner won't receive a platinum upgrade on his card. But I can always get a 2nd card that he'll be able to use.

I'll be looking for that email that says I've been upgraded. We're going to Vegas in May so I hope it happens before we go we can avoid the resort fees.
Thanks for the info. June trip and hoping the same- platinum to avoid resort fees.

To those who got their buffet passes already via the CC sign-up - are the passes only good weekdays?

Noticed that fine print of the cc offer outlined the weekday value of the buffet of buffets passes. Wondering if the passes are blacked out on weekends?

All it says on the coupon is "Blackout periods and holidays are excluded from this offer. Holiday periods including but not limited to: Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Eye".

"Blackout periods" I guess could mean when they want to, but it doesn't specify weekends. I'll probably ask when I make reservations.
Just a guess here - but the original offer said the 2 buffet passes were worth $99.98 - I'm thinking you COULD get it on the weekend, but it might cost you extra.

Then again - who knows??!!

It has been previously on LVA that the 24 hour buffet pass is Friday/Saturday $64.99 with a Total Rewards card or $69.99 without. Based on that, you can't use what you were sent for a weekend pass.
The offer mailed to me refers to the Buffets of Buffets pass for two people ($99.98 value) with footnote 4. Footnote 4 states in its pertinent part "The retail price for a 'Buffets of Buffets' for two Total Rewards members MID-WEEK is $99.98." (emphasis added). This would indicate to me that it must be used mid-week but it is likely an extra payment can be made for week-end use. However who the heck knows for sure. First person to find out through ACTUAL EXPERIENCE needs to post. I would not completely trust an answer from customer service.
