I have more than 10,000 tier points currently thanks to a couple of good days of gambling. But even knocking on the door to Diamond with a trip coming up in October, pursuit of Diamond won't affect my play. If the gambling Gods are nice to me, Diamond level will be achieved. If not, I won't chase it. And if I find the environment to be more appealing in a non-Caesars property (a la premium beverages at Cosmo or Wynn) I will gamble there.
The rewards of being Diamond just don't justify throwing money away to chase it. I get free rooms, including Paris in October, with my cardboard Platinum card. Same when I was gold last year.
