Paris, Flamingo or ? - Help with a CET property

Ok I have a few questions about staying/booking at a CET property.

Background on us first:
We (Jen 31, Eric 30) earned 30,000 points each last year during a promo. I was told by Harrah's here that that would equal $600 that could be used towards a hotel stay in Vegas. With a free flight for one of us we are hoping to travel Sept 14-23 for his birthday. We may/may not elope that week. (long story, really) We will NOT have a car this time and will probably cab it around.

We have previously stayed at MGM (Hollywood Suite in 07 loooved it!), Mirage, Signature this past Sept and 1 "bonus" night in Vegas at GN. He didn't care for the GN but I will admit it was a last min decision and I didn't feel like/ remember to ask for a comp. upgrade so we ended up in a room that took forever to get to and reminded us of grandma's house.

On to the questions:

1. Last week when I looked at rates for Paris it was running about 1072 pre tax for. Today it jumped 200+. I know with MGM properties you can book and re-book and re-book if the prices drop. Is CET the same way? Am I looking too early?

2. If you had a choice between Paris, Flamingo and PH which would you prefer? We don't stay in the room much and didn't make it to the pool last year but if we do elope I want something nice I don't want to deal with construction so IP and Harrah's are out. Caesars would be an option if we got an amazing deal. For some reason when I thought of staying at a CET prop Paris was my 1st choice.

3. Or... do you think we should stick with what we know/love MGM properties and use the $600 on food/shows/etc?

I really think I'm over thinking this but in 148 days I hope to be eating a double double animal style and enjoying the Strip.

Thanks for your input!

Congratulations on your engagement. Of the 3 properties, Paris is my first choice, PHo second and Flamingo a distant third.

30,000 points is a huge Total Rewards balance. Did you earn this by playing in a casino? Have you checked "My offers?" At that level, you should be comped up front. A little more play locally might get you a weekday comp or a lower rate for your Las Vegas room.

Or did you earn it in the Race to Rewards? Playing a little bit at each casino you visited?

Wedding or not, you want Paris. The Mirage is nice, too, and will put you within walking distance to Harrah's and the others for your meals. The Buffet of Buffets is a great deal, and they also have a Show of Shows deal.

There is no In-and-Out burger on the strip (that I know of), so I think you would be cabbing to that.

Welcome to this board! You came to the right place.
We earned the points with the Race to Rewards. I became a member here last yr and read about it. I thank everyone for their responses so far. Anyone with insight about the rates as far as booking and rebooking or just wait a bit to book. We are heading to our local Harrahs tomorrow so they can help us get online since the people over the phone aren't much help. Maybe we will see better rates.

If you stay at Paris, be sure and get a Red Room. They are much nicer than the regular rooms. If you end up staying at Planet Hollywood, get a Vista Room, which are even nicer than the Red Rooms at Paris. These are end rooms with fabulous views and have a great bathroom with a tub with a T.V. and a view. We've stayed at both and actually prefer the Vista room.

Also, keep in mind that points expire after 6 months. The Race to Rewards was around September 2011. I assume you have already done something to carry them forward? (Play, buy something, get the Credit Card, etc.) Otherwise, you will lose them 6 months after your last visit.

Yes points expire next weekend so going this weekend to our local Harrahs. It's 6 months from when they post so we still ok. I read somewhere we can use the pool of the sister casino or is it all CET pools? Which one would be sister to Paris.

The price right now for Ph and Paris are running about the same.
I have stayed at PH and Paris. Although PH is "newer" and i dont mind gamlbing there, I prefer Paris. The vibe at PH is very YOUNG (especially on the weekend)..."lets get drunk and laid". I am in my early 40s and enjoy drinking while gambling and having a great time BUT...I do not want to be in a casino that caters to those in their early 20s, I weigh 100 pounds soaking wet, I am onyl here to club, and/or lets have sex on the casino floor kind of place. IMHO I have stayed at Flamingo and enjoy the pool but have read too many bad reviews lately to stay there again.

On looking for prices for your room, you're probably a little early - so be patient.

Also, click the "hot deals" link - and see if your rate drops.

Also, when you just go to regular rerservations, put in both of your TR numbers, and sometimes that drops your rate as well.

If those 2 items don't help, (or you've already done them), then just sit tight, and check the rates again, in about a month.

We've stayed at both Paris & PH - we actually like PH more (better video poker), but Paris is a nicer overall property.

Hope this helps,

Dave (oh yeah, congrats on the "engagement")

I'm also curious to see the answer to that question. I've booked a 5 day comp at P. H. ( I'm 55 but the reviews last month were better for P. H. than Paris ). I'll have a car and I too would like to venture to other C.E.T. pools if possible ( the P.H. pool looks sort of plain in their website). The Paris pool looks better and I've enjoyed the Flamingo and Ceasars pools before!!
