Paris Room

I have a room comped at Paris for 5 nights. I'm sure that the comped room is just a standard basic room. Any advise on what to ask for regarding upgrades. Looking for a free/cheap upgrade....just curious what anyone has had experience with.
My new 'home' after "V/P" has been Paris Las Vegas (I only travel to Vegas 2-4 times per year, mostly game @ Mohegan Sun and in AC).

I like Paris Las Vegas, it's a neat compact property; and has a decent spa (which has free access for diamond, spa & fitness center).

With that being said, I will ONLY accept a renovated RED ROOM at Paris. The old rooms are awful, IMHO. I would try to book into the RED ROOM, if possible. If not, they are very accommodating at Diamond Check-in (some of the best staff I have encountered). I know they aggressively try to 'up-sell' upgrades to non-status TR members. So, it's a 'bit' of a crap-shoot; so best to be prepared to pay up (if you are not Diamond, or possibly Platinum), if a decent room is a priority.
Baccarat guy, what makes you say the standard rooms are awful? My wife and I have stayed in the standard rooms many times and find them to be just fine. Granted, it's not the Wynn , Palozzo or Bellagio, but I wouldn't call the rooms awful.
We love the Paris rooms. Because of my diamond status (we both play on my card), we have been able to get P rooms at te end of the corridors. These have 2 windows, usually with good views.

I agree, the basic rooms at Paris might be a bit dated, but they are still nice rooms.Calling them awful doesn't leave any room to be critical of the rooms at other casinos where people would switch in a second for a Paris room. Bob

OK, dated.

Perhaps, I'm also a bit more biased; since the one (smoking) standard (non-renovated) room I was in really smelled awful. I don't have that issue in the (smoking) renovated Red Rooms or Red Room Suites.

Also, while I'm not a huge TV person, the lack of a flat screen of any variety (unless I'm mistaken) is really a 'miss' in any hotel room (of course, my opinion) in 2011.

Don't get me wrong, I really like Paris Las Vegas. I also feel they should have completed the renovation of all of the rooms+suites.

I was offered an Imperial Suite (non-renovated) suite instead of my usual Giverny Suite (renovated) on my visit in September; perhaps, I should have checked it out.

Ask for a "P" room on a higher floor. The 3 I have had all had great views of the Bellagio fountains.
I agree with Baccarat Guy, I think the old rooms are pretty bad, especially the beds. I've recently had a host email me from the property and the only way I will stay there again is if he can guarantee a renovated room.
thoughts on Red Room Luxury vs PH Premium Fountain View. I am going in December these are my choices on a comp mailer they sent me. I have never stayed at PH and when i stayed at Paris it was a delux room. There is also a good chance of free upgrade but wanted to know whats best with these choices.
Thanks!
Joe
I'd go with the Paris room - it's nicer.

The PH room will have a nice view of the fountains, but it'll be smaller, darker and more "beat up" than the Paris room.
