Planet Hollywood Rooms

I am taking a free room offer for the Hollywood Hip (ie. the standard) room.
I am wondering if upgrading to a Resort room or any other room would be worth the extra money.
Also, does the $20 trick work here?

Your opinions, experiences appreciated.
Watch out. I had 4 comped nights my last stay. Was told by the man at check-in that he was upgrading me to a larger room w/view and even showed me the list that showed the difference in rooms by price. Had whispered and said didn't want the gal next to me to hear what he was giving me. This was all unsolicited by me as I did not give a tip nor asked for upgrade. WELL, what we got was a handicapped room by the elevators. Yes, it was larger and had a view. BUT, the added space was empty bathroom space and it had a wheel-in shower that I couldn't use as the hand held shower head would spray out into the bathroom! I had to turn the water on and off between using the soap and washing! Needless to say, we were moved the next day after many attempts to aquire a new room. Not the only reason, but one of many, of why I will not stay at the Ho again
Thanks for the heads up. I have had that happen at Marriots and Sheratons whilen on business trips.
Maybe the man you were dealing with was trained under the old Sheraton management.
I just stayed in a resort room last week. It had two windows and a nice view of Paris and Bellagio. Bathroom was very large with two seperate sinks.

The resort rooms are a bit larger but not that big of a deal IMO. I would take it if offered, but would not pay more for it.

Just stayed there 4 nights... I had two rooms booked, one for my wife and I, and one for her parents.

When had the Hip Room booked. When checking in, I slipped the guy a $50 and asked how he could accomodate us.

We both ended up getting a Vista Suite, which is much larger, HUGE bathroom with a large soaker tub with a 42" flatscreen...

It was a LONG walk from the elevator, but was worth it.
