Platinum status worthwhile

Usually don't visit CET spots much, but this trip spent 2 nights at the Paris. I was surprised how valuable Plat status was. Easy check-in and no lines at the buffet and VIP status at PH buffet. Used the Visa Buffet coupon and worked it into 2 dinners, a breakfest and lunch. Now if only the VP was worth playing...but did manage a 2K win and about 5K status points. Got an extra 4500 points and a $100 FP for my birthday month.
We also just got back from spending one night at Harrah's and 3 at Caesars, all comped, and visiting with our upgraded plat status thanks to Visa card and was also very surprised how much easier everything was including checking in and using the buffet pass.

We are upgraded to a suite at Harrah's and the 47th floor at Caesars without even asking. Not sure if that was the plat card or not, but it was sure nice,

Unfortunately, neither of us gamble enough to maintain it. Only earned about 1000 tier points in 3 days and we didn't see any TR shows this trip. Still, it's nice while it lasts.
I have found that the only place Platinum does any good is in Las Vegas. You get special line access to buffets and check in.

At Horseshoe Hammond (IN) there is ZERO benefits. I might as well be a first time visitor with a ten dollar bankroll, lol.

I think you're right that Vegas is the only place where Platinum means anything. We go to Harrah's Rincon more often as it's closer and it's worth diddly squat there.

I am glad to hear that platinum still means something at the CET casinos in Vegas. We have not been going to Vegas as often as we used to and no longer earn the platinum status, but have reached it with their credit card.

How did you earn the $100 FP and extra points for your birthday month? I will be in Vegas at Harrah's for my birthday and was wondering how to earn this perk.

Thanks for your response.
I would venture to say that those promos are based on your overall play. I have been platinum for several years and never had it as an offer.

The only way to be sure, a t to ask when you get there.

Birthday promo came via mail. Did have some good play down in Biloxi a couple of months ago when I hit a RF & 2 KAces on $ (about 7K status points). But almost no play in Vegas in last 10 years and havn't been at the Paris for at least that long...offer was good at all the Vegas CET.
That sounds like a good play for you, Capt.
We were just at the Rio. The Platinum and above check-in was through a special set of double doors which were opened for us by two employees. We were the only ones in the check-in room. The young guy who checked us in (CJ) later slipped a "thanks for staying with us" card under our door. The buffet has a special entry door for Platinum and above and a special eating room. We used it three times for free with our buffet pass. The resort fee ($18) was waived but that meant no computer access in the room. Since the room was comped that is very irritating as other casino groups waive the resort fee for comped rooms but still allow the amenities to be used. However upstairs in the Burger King I used the free WiFi every day. My brother-in-law and I are going in January for six nights at the Rio (5 comped) and I will get the maximum use out of my one year of Platinum. Since we are 25 cent video poker players who live in Indianapolis and not very near a CET casino (SI and Cincinnati the closest about 100+ miles away) I will never see Platinum again after the 3/14 expiration. However my wife might apply for the Visa card so we can do it again for one more year. Final answer it pays big time to be Platinum in Vegas at least at the Rio. Now if they would just move the video poker from the Palms to the Rio.
We've enjoyed the platinum perks we've had this year. In 2012 we stayed @ Paris for my bday, pre platinum, and there was a convention starting the day we got there. I waited an hour to get checked in. Since we've been platinum, the most people I've waited in line behind was 2 @ check in. I took my niece in March and she was pretty impressed with the line cuts we had all weekend, I've hit platinum again for 2014 but I wouldn't say I've adjusted NY play to reach it, in fact I didn't really pay attention to the daily tier credit bonus until our July trip. I think I've racked up so many points because I've already had 4 trips to Vegas so far. We're there again in 2 weeks, then I have a sisters trip in Nov. Could this be my one and only chance @ hitting Diamond? Who knows.
