Platinum updates we noticed at Rio/Planet Hollywood/Harrahs

Hi Everyone!

We just got back late last night from a week long stay at the Rio. They still have a VIP check in area for Seven Stars/Diamond/Platinum which typically has a significantly shorter line than the main check in. The Carnival Buffet also still has a Platinum line separate from the main line (although the main line was not long at all). Starbucks doesn't have Platinum lines at the Rio.

At Harrah's we saw on the VIP check in area that it only listed Diamond & Seven Stars. I tried to see if I could find a Platinum line for the main area but never found one. Has anyone recently stayed there that can confirm?

At Planet Hollywood, they still have Platinum line for the Buffet as well as for the Starbucks locations. We didn't see the check in areas here.

Hope this info is helpful for those that are Platinum!
A few things I've noticed recently. Platinum over the last few years had really declined in what you get and I've noticed that there are far fewer platinum lines than there used to be.

I've also noticed that in places where there were separate platinum, diamond and 7* lines that they've combined them into one line.

Personally I don't like this. I don't think it's right to allow a platinum player to be in the same line as a 7* player when that 7* player has played a minimum of 20x as much action as the platinum player. With that said I do know that a 7* player can actually go to the front of that line and still cut ahead of the diamonds and platinum guests.

We were at the Rio a few weeks ago and went to the box office to get tickets to Penn and Teller. The line was a half a mile long at the time. There was no one in the diamond/7* line (I'm 7* and my wife is diamond). Although there wasn't actually a "line" or a "queue" for the 7* line we went and stood next to the sign. Some guy about 3rd in line yells over to me and tells me the "This is the line over here" pointing to where he was at. I didn't say a word and just pointed to the diamond/7* sign. He got pissed off and I don't blame him but on the same note, I wagered a lot of money and earned the right to skip that line. It's one of the benefits of having the higher level cards, no different than being able to go to the diamond lounge or getting a celebration dinner.
I will say that during our last trip, there was never any more than 1 person in any of the lines in front of us for the VIP line. So that was nice.
I was at Bally's Las Vegas the beginning of this month and there was a Platinum check-in line up by the bellmen. Diamond and Seven Stars go into a private area to register. I've been happy with the Platinum line status in Las Vegas it's in Atlantic City where it is pretty worthless to be Platinum.

y "home" casino is Horseshoe Hammond, IN, AKA Horseshoe Chicagoland. There are ZERO benefits for platinum.

in january of this year, i notice the same at Harrahs check in...NO Platinum line! I asked a Harrahs person standing in the lobby if there was a Platinum line and he pointed me to the Diamond/ Seven Stars door. I went in there and they checked my Platinum butt in...no questions asked and was told to enjoy my stay. I plan to do the same in a few weeks on my 2016 January trip to Harrahs, i will post an update then.
At Harrah's we used the 7* and Diamond area check in and I'm Platinum.
We have our next trip planned for Christmas week. I will try to give an update on my return about the Rio and any of the other Harrahs properties we visit!
