Please describe the walk from Rio to Gold Coast

Could someone please describe, in detail, the best way to walk (door to door) from the Rio to the Gold Coast? Do you have to go through a parking garage? This will be in the fall, so the heat may not be a problem.

Thanks.

go out the front door, cross the street and cut through the parking garage to the side door at gold coast. Did it twice this week. Once during the day and once at night. Perfectly safe.
About 5-8 minute march or a 10-15 minute stroll (depending on lights).

You asked for it:

* Head out the Rio's WEST ENTRANCE (the one by the Carnival Buffet).
* Travel a short distance WEST through a couple of driveways, a small parking lot, and some rocks to the nearest street. This will be VALLEY VIEW.
* Cross VALLEY VIEW. This is easier said than done, because it's a 5-lane road that often looks like this. Not recommended for the less agile.
* Once you cross VALLEY VIEW, take a left. You will be skirting the GOLD COAST'S parking garage.
* When the parking garage ends, take a right.
* In a minute or two, you'll see the GOLD COAST'S EAST ENTRANCE ahead and to the right. Head for that. Watch out for cars, because you'll have to dodge two more driveways to get there.

or...
To cross VALLEY VIEW, look for the entrance door on the sidewalk that leads into
the GOLD COAST Parking Lot. (YES...YOU'LL BE J-WALKING)
You may very possibly see other folks doing the same...
Mornings are good with less traffic on VALLEY VIEW...

(Motorcycle cops don't care if it's morning, afternoon...and I'd never do it at night)

YES...I guess it's possible you could get a ticket if caught. I've never seen any
police on the street when I've crossed...it IS a popular route as evidence by the
'worn pathways' through the hedge on the other side of the RIO parking lot, lol.

Once you cross VALLEY VIEW, go in the Parking Lot entrance and up the stairs.
Walk across the garage to the CASINO sign you'll see on the other side...
In the doors, up the escalator, down the hall, down the escalator and in
the doors to the GOLD COAST.

You wanna hit the PALMS next?
Walk to the other side of the GOLD COAST casino, up the stairs, around the driveway
to your Right...and up to the Flamingo Street crossing light to the PALMS.

I will admit to making that Valley View crossing a number of times---but, unless you are in a real hurry, I'd walk up to the corner and wait for the light. Falls under, "do what I say, not what I have done."
Small thing...I leave Rio by going out the door that's past the poker room If you go out the door by the Carnival Buffett, you end up by the shuttle stand. Go out the door, across the drive. There's a sidewalk that takes you to Valley View, so you do not need to go through hedges or stones.

After crossing, I enter the GC parking garage and go up to the second floor, and enter that way to the escalators that take me up, over, and down to the casino. I don't like crossing the GC driveway and valet parking.
What Gregrio said. We have done it many times in daylight hours.

its actually easier to jaywalk than to walk to the light. the walk light doesnt seem to be long enough to cross. if you jaywalk, you can stop in the middle.
Jay-walking across Valley View is Las Vegas' version of playing the video game "Frogger"---cross at the light.
