Quad update

They've started the room renovations and that is making a lot of folks unhappy. Currently under renovation are the rooms that overlooked the pool. This means that the bank of 4 elevators just past the casino and before you got to the shops are closed. The two elevators behind those are in operation. The elevators were always slow but now it is worse. A lot of folks that are staying here for one kind of special or tournament this weekend are now moving to other hotels. (Myself included) The pool is also closed but that wasn't mentioned at check in, nor was it mentioned that guests can use the pools at either Harrahs or Flamingo. The shops in the Linq walkway space between the Quad and Flamingo are started to open and that area looks nice. There is still a center area within the casino that is walled up and wasn't able to get any info on what is planned there. The free slot tournament that used to be upstairs is now on the main casino floor and they electronically convert two banks of machines for tournament use and play is in sessions. As a final comment, the cocktail waitresses have new outfits.
Thanks for the info. I don't think I'll stay at the Quad this summer!
Why anyone would stay at that rathole is beyond me.
Something tells me that come October, many of us (hopefully) will have a entirely different perspective on the Quad. I gotta believe that the changes in their casino last year (and this), plus the opening of the Ling at the very least makes the "prospect" of a nice surprise (with regards to their remodeled rooms) at least plausible. The Quad is clearly positioned to be a lot better location (hotel and casino wise) next year than last. I may be giving CET too much credit but I'd like to believe that their center strip makeover (Ballys, the LING and the Quad) bodes well for the future!!

Only time will tell!

I take this as an insult

.

Why anyone would read what was intended as an informative post about a property that they consider a rathole and then criticize the poster for staying at the property is beyond me.

That being said I would like to continue with some more worthwhile information.

IMHO the employees of the Quad have always tried to be friendly, responsive and courteous. Be it the dealers, cocktail waitresses and other workers. All of the renovations have made their jobs difficult with the noise of destruction and construction.

As a further update, the walled off area is planned as further casino space and a lounge. I expect that by the winter the lowest CET room rates will be Harrahs and Flamingo.

SandyPaws- I was not meaning to criticize you, I was just stating my belief that I could not see why anyone would stay there. Also, just for the record, I reserve the right to read and comment on any posting made on this website- whether anyone else likes it or not.
I was a fan of the IP back in the day, even though the casino was smoky and not the cleanest place around I enjoyed playing there. I'll have to check out the renovations next time I'm in town.

I agree with your assessment of the Quad staff. Years ago, when their poker room was upstairs in the back (before the buffet) it was 1 of my favorite locals. They always had great football promos in the poker room too! Sportsbook and Burger Palace were less than a minute walk away.

1 negative from the old days? Thier buffet!!!

I have no doubt that when their upgrade is complete, the Quad will pass a few strip hotels!

And the self importance just drips off this post...
I stayed at the Quad in mid-March. Yes, the rooms (not renovated yet) were a bit dingy, but most importantly: 1) The bed was VERY comfortable; 2) My room was always made up on the early end; 3) Shower pressure was great. This is more than I can say for other mid-strip CET places that I have stayed. The casino renovation bodes well, and the attached O'Sheas is great. Proximity to Linq is wonderful. Waitresses/bartenders friendly, and best of all, they waived their resort fee. I agree with Champster that this place is headed in very positive directions.
