I couldn't book my own flight, but I sent my host the flights that I wanted to book and he went thru their Passport travel. They were with Southwest and under the want-to-get-away fare, so there wasn't any problem. I think as long as they're not over the $750 they should give you your preferred flight times, or even in my case, the tickets were over $750 so I paid the difference.
