Recently finished a trip to Reno/Tahoe and wanted to pass along some observations/comments.
There is now a shuttle from the airport to Harrah's Reno but it is not on a schedule like the other casinos' shuttles. Rather it just goes back and forth on a continual basis. Was looking for it where all the casinos' shuttles pick up and was in the process of calling the casino to find out when it would next be there when a driver called out asking if we were from Little Rock. Seems he was the Harrah's shuttle driver and was expecting four passengers from Little Rock. This Harrah's shuttle was not marked as well as the other casinos' shuttles. Harrah's uses several vehicles and some are more prominently marked
Stayed the first night in Reno with the intention of taking the shuttle back to the airport the next day to pick up a rental car. Had booked the rental car months in advance which makes for a significant discount.
Was lucky the next morning when got to the lobby as the shuttle was just about ready to leave. Picked up the rental car at the airport and drove to South Lake Tahoe via Incline Village. Very scenic and worth stopping often for pictures. Although that route can be a little intimidating in an unfamiliar rental car.
Prior to trip I had written to both Harrah's Reno and Harvey's Tahoe asking about in room coffee makers. Email response from Harrah's had been that it would depend on what room I got when I checked in. Response from Harvey's was "No but we have room service from 6-11 AM. When I checked in at Harrah's I asked if the room had a coffee maker and was told "Of course." There was a Keurig in the room. Based on that when I checked in at Harvey's I asked the same question and the response was "No, but we will have housekeeping send one to your room. Do you want a regular one or a Keurig?" Housekeeping doesn't provide additional coffee pods since they don't have them on their carts but you can call and request them daily.
The cocktail waitresses/waiters at all three casinos are very good once they know you. They remember you and what you drink.
In Tahoe used room service for breakfast. Tried different items during the stay...steak and eggs, eggs benedict and homemade corned beef hash and eggs and all were very good. Only negative was that medium rare steak seemed more medium than medium rare. You can't place your order except during the hours they are open so was concerned as to how long the wait would be. Meals were delivered in 15 minutes or less and were always hot. They will also pick up your dishes if you call before they close at 11. Was told that you can place your order for the next morning if you call before they close at 11 but did not find that necessary as they are able to deliver within 15 minutes.
The Highlander bar is next to the Forest Buffet at Harrahs and serves appetizers and had headed there to try it out. By mistake made a wrong turn when got off the elevator and ended up at Friday's Station and had appetizers in an area that they have set aside for those folks waiting on their table reservation. Had excellent appetizers of escargot and shrimp/crab cakes with a very nice view. Service was excellent. Afterwards looked at the menu at the bar at the buffet and was glad had made the mistake.
For access to Diamond lounge at Harrah's Tahoe you have to get your players card coded. Also for access to the pool you have to get a separate room key for Harrah's if you are staying at Harvey's.
Had taken my Garmin to navigate up to Tahoe and back to airport to return rental car. Even with Garmin was not easy getting to rental car return as signage is not the best.
Stayed last night back at Harrah's Reno and next morning bell desk made sure and held the shuttle for the trip back to the airport.
