Resort Fees Changed

Hi Everyone,

Not sure if anyone has heard or noticed this, the Rio was charging $25 a night resort fee as of Saturday. I called today to modify our reservation because it had went down quite a bit. The resort fee is now listed as $28 a night. We still saved $35 by changing it, but it seems these crappy fees just keep going up and up!

They certainly are annoying, especially when you consider what they include. Use of the pool?? C'mon now.
I was particularly peeved when CET started charging Platinum tier players the resort fee. Now the only usable platinum perk is line hoppingin Vegas. There are no other perks that i consider valuable. My comped four night trip in June is now $112.00 with tax at Bally's. Phooey.

I agree with you Joy. Free local calls is another "perk" of the resort fee. NOT!

Last trip in March they did waive the resort fee for us because we had booked just a few days after it changed for Platinum. I thanked her and then mentioned that if we had to pay the resort fee we would end up spending more time on the internet and making ourselves go to the gym every day. (Which ultimately means less time gambling)

Since there isn't any real benefit anymore we won't try to get to Platinum at all. It seems like the buffets haven't had any huge lines lately when we go. Maybe because they have overpriced those as well.
Anyone know if the resort fee at Bally's includes internet? Have comped rooms for tournament at Rio in May, but the resort fee is $25/day.

I looked at the resort and Bally's said it does include Internet. When you book a reservation there is a little ? near the resort fee. If you hover over it, it lists what it includes.
PS - I am going to call Total Rewards again. I went to book another reservation later in the fall to see what the resort fee was and it went back to showing $25 a night! I am not sure why they would charge me $28 if it hasn't changed???
Hey raisin7 I am also in that same tourrney staying at Ballys. Do you have any info on what times the sessions are? I thought perhaps Monday is sign up and play Tues and Wed? Also do you know what type of VP?
I have found the last 2 stays that the internet was only hardwire in the room. Doesn't do much good if you have phone or tablet.

FWIW ... when you log into the "free" wifi it will list it as a charge. The charge will be removed for 1 device when you check out (for Plats).

At least that was the case when I was at Ballys Jubilee from 3/19-25
I lost Diamond status March 31st and dropped to Gold. I book an offer while I was still Diamond and they said no resort fee. but once I dropped off the diamond list they added it back in. (room is comp) I emailed them to confirm and the response was yes $25 fee per night. (This is at the Flamingo) I called and told the reservationist I wanted to cancel. When they asked if I wanted to rebook for different dates I told them no I was not paying the resort fee. They looked into my account and decided to wave the fee. They also told me the fee is $25 and the tax is $3 so the $28 fee some have seen is just the fee plus tax. Internet is also part of the resort fee and it is unclear if I will have free internet but I doubt it. I also have a comp for the D as I am splitting my stay between the strip and downtown. The D said they do not charge a resort fee on a mailed room offer. If this holds up I will just stay downtown in the future. why pay a fee to play bad VP?

Joe
Yes I called the Rio and spoke to them. They said the Resort fee section now showed the $25 rate plus the 12% tax rate. At least I was relieved to find out that it just didn't go up again!

Also, Champster thanks for the info. I do plan to bring my tablet and use the wifi to the fullest while in the room to help "make up" for the resort fee. I hope they realize that means I won't be gambling as much!
