Resort Fees for Platinum Members

Attention all Platinum Members,

I just received an reply to my email question about resort fees for Platinum members and I also called reservations to confirm. ANY RESERVATION BOOKED ON 11/10 OR LATER WILL BE CHARGED A RESORT FEE.

RESERVATIONS MADE PRIOR TO 11/10 WILL NOT BE CHARGED A RESORT FEE.

I guess there is no incentive to become a Platinum member except for shorter lines at the buffet and casino cage, who knows maybe we'll lose that also. Bottom line, either become a Diamond or 7 Stars member for any real benefits.
Darn. and we just made Platinum in September! At least we won't have to pay those stupid fees on our Thanksgiving trip.

I was talking to a couple of guys at work Sunday night about a "guys" trip to Vegas for St Patrick's day. Since I am Platinum, I usually do the hotel booking. I had some extra time, so I checked my CET offers and was able to book 3 comped nights, with a $50 charge for the 4th night at the Rio. I had no idea that those weasels at Harrah's were going to pull that bullshit with the resort fees. Anyhow, I saved myself and the "crew" $100 by booking when I did. Talk about perfect timing.
Thanks for sharing the info. I was afraid they would tack resort fees onto my Christmas trip. Glad that wont happen. Can't understand why charging Platinum members a resort fee will help them in their fight against bankruptcy. The "bean counters" just keep coming up with ways to make us unhappy with CET.

Screw Platinum with resort fees just remember what happened to Atlantic City !!
Really bummed about this. But I guess we will bring our laptop and use the wifi now. (We always just used my cell phone for the little bit of online things we need to do during the week) And we will probably make a trip to the fitness center now even though we never did previously. I checked other hotels but since we get 4 comped days during our 7 night trip it still is cheaper to stay here and pay resort fees than to pay for 7 nights and resort fees elsewhere.
Yeah, not happy about this, but they still give you more comped nights then other places. However I think I will drop to gold to get the comped rooms. The line cutting perks for platinum are not enough incentive for me. Mlife if you are listening, if you start matching the comp room nights of CET; I will jump ship and try you guys. I figure if I got to pay resort fees, might as well try some new properties.
Pretty steamed about the change too. I made reservations before the change.

Quick question..... If I modify my current reservation, will the date show as the original reservation date or today's date?
Mortyc, to answer your question, if you change or modify a reservation after the cut off date you will have to pay the resort fee. I had a reservation made prior to the cut off date for the Flamingo. My wife wanted Caesers Palace. I call and made the change and asked if I was still okay on resort fees since I had originally booked before 11/10.they said no, and charged me the resort fee,25$ a night PLUS tax on top of the resort fee.
I worked hard to get my Platinum in October and I feel ripped off. That was one of the very few perks for Platinum. Never again, even the comped offers you have to pay a resort fee. I don't think MGM makes you pay a resort fee on comps. I guess my CET/LV days are shrinking. I can stay at Gold Coast free no resort fee and 4 Queens for almost free they are one of the few that have no resort fees.
They wonder why they are going broke .
