Reward credits for merchandise

I see on the Caesars/Harrahs website that I can redeem some of my TR credits for merchandise. It says that I have to do it at a Total Rewards center (I assume that means in the casino).

OK, so what happens then - do they send me the merchandise or give it to me right there? Since I am traveling with limited room in my suitcase, I hope they mail it.

Also, are there any cost involved (postage, handling, etc)?

I ordered a Bose radio from the TR counter at Horseshoe Bossier City a few years ago. A few bad things happened:

1. First, the TR representative at the Diamond VIP counter tried to charge me full "price" (points) for the radio. He went right for the full-price book. I had to point out to him that it was on reduced points that month. He then took the order and the points came out of my account immediately and correctly. The order comes by UPS or other service to your doorstep some time later.

2. I waited, and waited, and waited more than 30 days for the order to arrive. Since I had a trip coming up and I didn't want a $500 radio to sit on the front porch while I was gone, I called. The Horseshoe refered me to the merchandise fulfillment company. The guy there said that they were backordered on the radio since it was so popular that month. He said it could come in any time. I received no notice of the backorder. Because of my upcoming trip, I chose to cancel the order. The points went back into my account fairly promptly.

I would not do this again. I still don't own a Bose radio.

I will say that other redemptions, such as the Great Gift Wrapup, have gone very smoothly and I was pleased. Just not with the order at the TR counter.

Yes, you order at a Total Rewards booth in a casino.

They ship it to you (or anywhere else you want), postage and everything is covered in the cost.

There's a place on the website where you can track your order using the receipt they give you when you order. Go to "shop with TR" "Total Rewards Catalog" and then on that page in the upper right corner is "My Order"
I have ordered several items through the years. My only disappointment was an Omaha Steaks order. The wrong thing was sent but I received a replacement when I called and pointed that out. You put in your order at the total rewards desk and it is a good idea to have the specifics on what you want and how many points it is. You can then track your order online. I was concerned that my latest order for a TV was slow so I called customer service and was told that 3 to 4 weeks is normal for processing the order and that they would email me the shipment tracking number as soon as they had it. I received that email Friday and my TV is due to arrive this week.
