Rincon gets new name

I read in today's LA Times travel section that it will be renamed Harrah's Resort Southern California in Valley Center. I love the makeover it is getting but the new name is going to be hard to get used to. I'll probably keep calling it Rincon.
Ok so they are trying to rename it again. They tried something like Harrahs North San Diego, but that didn't work. I too will just refer to it as Rincon. I think they still need the Rincon indians to have a casino in California don't they?

I live in the Northridge, Canoga Park area of the San Fernando Valley. "CSUN" is a University in Northridge. There was a big push to make the university more appealing to out of state students by calling it California State University at Northridge and not "CSUN". To us locals, it will always be known as CSUN.
I agree...it's all just paperwork. I'll most like always call it Rincon. But then again, I still refer Caesars Corp as Harrahs, and the TI as Treasure Island ad the Fiesta Henderson as The Reserve. In the big scheme of things, I'm not really sure what they hope to accomplish by making the name longer. People prefer short names.

Barbary Coast became Bills Gambling Hall and has now become the Cromwell...nothing like a name change to keep things moving.
Or maybe I'll call it Harrahs So Cal. Took the bus down there yesterday with some friends and came home with a few extra dollars in my pocket. Good black jack and the slots were pretty good yesterday also.

That is quite a mouthful. I will probably continue to call it Rincon as well.

We are headed there this weekend for a slot tourney and have a reservation in the new tower. Apparently this weekend is the soft opening and the grand opening will be sometime in April.

I think they've done a pretty good job in making it a resort-type casino. The pool area is very nice and they have the new non-smoking bar/lounge area. There's also a new bar that's supposed to feature whiskey drinks (the new rage?) opening sometime in April/May I think. I just wish they'd get some better restaurants. I'm not fond of Noodles, don't really care that much for mexican food and can only eat at Fiores and the Cafe so many times.
