Rio Cash Deposit

I am staying at the Rio on a comp for 2 days. I am just wondering if anyone has had any experince with a cash deposit. When I called they said they accept a $200 cash deposit instead of a credit card. Also, they mentioned on phone that if I talked to a supervisor I could get the deposit lowered if I didn't need any services.

My question is what good does a depost do if they are giving you the money back before the room is checked out? Maybe this is a way to get people to just charge things to the room?
Ask at check in if a deposit is required if you don't plan to charge anything to your room. I recently stayed at Ballys and Harrahs Laughlin and was not required to leave a deposit. Nor was I required to leave one last year at Paris during NYE weekend. However, I was required to leave one at Harrahs Reno last summer.
Thanks for the info
I used free comps at Flamingo over the summer. Paid for the GO room upgrade with cash. Still was not required to give a deposit. The year before I was. So...who knows?
