Rio helped when it counted

I am diamond my wife is Platinum. We had 5 comp nights stayed downtown for 2 more nights. Checked out returned the rental car. got our boarding passes. As we were boarding the plane. first group already seated they cancelled the flight due to weather where I live. We had to go to baggage claim and get the bags we just checked in. No car and no where to go and cash running low. I called the Rio. 7:15am Nevada time. They said sure come over and we will take care of you. Comp us a room and let us check in at 8:30am No fees, just told us to let them know if we needed anything else. CET not all bad.
Class act for sure on Rio's part. Good for you.

Harrah's took care of us when we were stranded during 9/11. No planes flying in or out. We had to stay 4 nights longer than our original check out day. No questions, no charge.
Congrats! Great news! Kuddos to CET!

Nice to read some good news.

THanks for taking time to share. Hope you finally got back home safely.

About 9/11.... also know of some local folks that got stranded, they bought a SUV and drove back to the east coast.

I heard of folks doing that also. By the time we got down to the lobby that morning there wasn't a seat on a bus or a rental car to be had in the town, or so we were told. You couldn't even get through to airlines on the phone, which wouldn't have done any good anyway since they didn't know when they would fly again...I think it wasn't til the next afternoon we got through to SWA to re-book our flight.

The lobby was chaos, but Harrah's already had big message boards up, sent runners going to pharmacies to pick up Rx's for guests, were doing everything they could to contain the panic and put folks at ease. In not time all the hotels had big American Flags and God Bless America signs out. It was pretty eerie.
Nice to hear you had no problems. I sometimes wonder about getting stranded.

As far as 9/11 goes, we had a friend stranded also, although he was not stranded at a hotel or even on the ground. He was in a black hawk and was told to land right away but all airports closed and denied him clearance to land. He was really sweating bullets till he got on the ground.
