Rio Hotel reviews

I have been reading terrible reviews about the Rio. Things ranging from cold rooms without hot water bottle to credit card overage charges not being reversed. Also theft and safes that do not lock. Should I stay elsewhere like the Palms or Gold Coast. As a diamond member I know to ask for a coffe machine. I am just looking for a clean, safe and quiet place to sleep. Please advise.
I've stayed at the Rio over a dozen times the past ten years; the last time being this past December. I've never had a major problem with any of my rooms. They have always been clean and comfortable; true some of them have telltale carpet and furniture wear. I am also a diamond card holder and usually request a room in the Ipanema tower; my rooms always have a coffee maker and are quiet. I have never had a problem with having hot water or a problem with a non working safe. A couple of times I have had a safe that was locked when I first got to the room, but a call to the front desk resulted in having maintenance fix the problem in a timely manner. I enjoy staying at the Rio for several reasons: rooms are a bit larger, the pool area is one of CET's better ones, a nice sports book, their buffet is better than average, employees have always been courteous and helpful, the shuttle to/from the Strip is reliable, and I really enjoy my time at their wine cellar. The only downside is the poor VP paytables and the 6:5 blackjack. I still gamble there, but I do find myself walking across the street to play VP at the Gold Coast. I have never felt unsafe or insecure during any of my visits and rarely am bothered by someone hitting me up for "bus fare" money; something that happens to me frequently when I gamble at the Orleans or Gold Coast. I am not sure what your source of information is, but theft happens in every Vegas casino. I'll be back to Vegas next month and you can bet that I will be visiting the Rio during my trip. Hope this will allay some of your concerns; I am sure there are many people that dislike this hotel...peoples tastes vary considerably.....but I for one would not hesitate staying at the Rio in the future.
Hi there! We have stayed at the Rio off and on for the past 13 years. First time in 2004. Most recent in February of 2017. We visit 3-4 times per year. We have only had two bad experiences. One was when there was a norovirus outbreak and the other when we were there in December and the fire happened. Both times they made up for the situation after the fact. We love the staff there. We see many of the same staff members each trip. We love many of the bartenders at Shutters. They are so much fun. The food is good at many of the restaurants. The pool is awesome. The rooms in the Masquerade tower are more run down than the Ipanema tower from our experience at least. All of the equipment in our rooms have always worked except the safe has been locked once before when we arrived but they fixed that promptly. I agree that the VP tables aren't good. And some of the slots could be updated. But overall we really enjoy staying there. We have visits already planned for May, November and December! Hope to see you there!
Also have stayed at the Rio 12 + times and keep going back with out a major issue. Did have the safe locked once upon arrival, but that was quickly resolved. Avoid the high floors in the Masqurade tower if Voodoo lounge is open as that does disturb "the quiet" during the wee hours of the AM. Always seems safe also. Have had the plugged tub/toilet drain, water leak from the ceiling, no power, no water, no hot water, key card quits working, nasty dirty room and or bed over the last 27 years in Las Vegas, but never "so far" at the Rio.

Thank you so much for your input. We will try the Rio in two weeks based on your comments.
I was there in Oct & Feb and absolutely no complaints. Its the only CET with decent VP and my go to in CET Vegas.
