Rio

We will be staying 5 nights in vegas in April. 2 of those nights are comped at the Rio. Any suggestions of towers. What to ask for etc. We've never stayed there so I'm looking forward to spending a little time at the property.

The other nights are at Mandalay Bay and Ballys. All comped.

Ask for a pool view in the Ipenema (sp?) Tower.

Usually a comp deal at the RIO lands you a regular Deluxe room/mountain view.
You'd probably be much happier with a Premium room/Strip-Pool view.

I stay in a Premium room, Ipanima Tower, 10th floor or higher, Strip/Pool view...they're great.

I stayed the first week in January on 2 nights comp and got a great room. It was my 50th B-Day and I asked the girl at check-in if she could help me out with the room selection. She had my license so she could see I was telling the truth and gave me a great suite even though I was comped. I think I was in the Impenema tower and it was on the corner as I had a strip view and a view of the Palms. you had to put your key in the elevator to access the floor. I'm not a high roller just Platinum (first time I made it as I play $25 BJ). And of course I gave her a $20 and after I saw the room I actually came back down and gave her another. If it is any kind of special event for you I would ask. It was my first time staying though so I don't know anything about the other rooms or towers.

If you like QUIET rooms with minimal street noise, as for Ipanema Tower #3 odd-numbered room, or Ipanema Tower #2 even-numbered. These rooms face the mountains, away from Strip/I-15/Flamingo Blvd.
If you like to face the Strip, as for Ipanema Tower #1, odd-numbered.
To face the pool area, ask for Ipanema Tower #1 even-numbered, or Tower #2 odd-numbered.

I'm not familiar with these # references in IPANIMA TOWER...
As a rule, ODD numbers face the Strip, EVEN numbers face the mountains.
In re to noise....I've never even noticed any sound from the freeway, or surface streets. Early mornings...every now 'n then, you can hear the 'train' down below. The tracks run right along I-15, but most folks are asleep when it goes by...I like to watch the sunrise, lol.
Premium Rooms get ya the Strip view/Deluxe Rooms get ya the mountains.
