Riviera Hotel

Was thinking of staying at the Riviera on our next trip. Have visited a couple of times, not since there new renovation. If anyone can help me with some questions.
Was thinking of staying in there Deluxe room or a Luxury Room has anyone stayed in either and could help me out with the info. on this
Would like to know if the hotel has a new clean look and if it is fun to just be there. Don't need the Bellagio atmosphere just being better than before they remolded.
Resturants are they worth even eating at, which ones would be worth the trip, and if anyone can rate the buffet, my husband loves buffet especially for breakfast.
How is the area around the Riviera, I know some of the other areas you really have to be on your guard at nite, not that I don't have to be at home sometimes, just asking
Any other info you can supply me with would be wonderful
Thanks
I have not stayed since the renovation either. I have visited the casino.

They have an Irish Pub that gets high marks for sandwiches, beer, and a fun atmosphere. The Buffet is allegedly improved but I can not review based on first hand experience. Actually, my favorite restaurant there is the "India Marsala" fast food joint in the food court adjacent to the showroom area. Really good chicken-curry with flatbread and rice. Spicy.

The casino is the real attraction with low limit games and player friendly rules. Single zero roulette wheel. 3/2 blackjack. Plenty of free slot play offers.

The area in front of Riviera is safe although lacking. Circus Circus, Slots-a-fun, and The Peppermill all in the immediate area and are safe to visit at any hour of the day or night. The next closest hotel is the Encore which is a few blocks away. I've made that walk in the middle of the night without fear although there are transients along the way. You're on Las Vegas Blvd which is well trafficked...I doubt someone is going to attack you with the slew of cars going by at all hours. Behind the Riviera you can visit the Las Vegas Hilton which might be a little risker walk at night.

Just stayed there a couple of weeks ago for business. We stayed in one of the older towers, honestly can't remember the name. We booked on Hotwire, it won't tell you the name but if you narrow it down by location (Strip North I think they call it) and stars (3) you will get the Riviera after you purchase, it was only $14 per night. The rooms are just ok, I am sure the newer towers are nicer but they were fine. Clean for the most part, beds are not too bad. It served it purpose for three nights.
The steakhouse was pretty good - again can't remember the name (sorry was for business but also too much drinking) but it's the only one. With the coupon it was definitely a good value.
The Irish pub is also good. Very good beer selection....
Buffet was average at best, had the breakfast, not terrible but not great.
Hope that helps.
You stayed at Riv & lived to tell. Glad it worked out ok for your Biz trip. Certainly close to Conv. Center.

I stayed there my first trip to Vegas. The free play on designated machines was a joke-about like Hooters.
It was all new to me, I was plenty lubricated, and I had a grand time. Loved the fast food place with all the $1 items - is it still there? Room was pretty large and right up from the main lobby by the casino.
