Sahara is not looking to healthy

I ducked into the Sahara a couple times last week....once on a Saturday night.   And it was dead both times.

Doesn't look like the rebranding has done much to attract crowds.

Circus Circus was jam packed - but Sahara had about as many employees on the floor as customers.    If thats the norm I dont see them lasting too long.

Well, there ya go...location, location, location.

Maybe they should get a free shuttle going, to and from...someplace, generate some interest, etc.  Too bad.

There's no particular reason to go there. The Stratosphere has an even worse location, but it at least has Stupak's Substitute Penis as a draw. The Sahara might do better if something gets built on the other side of the Strip. Also, across Sahara to the north, there used to be a little casino--I think it was called Foxy's Firehouse. That would be a good high-profile location for something similar.

A couple of weeks ago my NY buddies were in town. after dining at Pieros, we stopped at the new Sahara to check it out and play some BJ. We had done this before when it was the SLS. Back then the 5 of us found a 3-2 BJ table, took it over and had a great time.

When we went to the Sahara, all the games were 6-5. We didn't stay.

Granted the location sucks but you can overcome that with good games and good food. You have to give the LV visitors and locals a reason to go there.

Bob Stupak made Vegas World a vacation destination back in the day.  He advertised his deals (the first I remember) even in our local paper (Arkansas), every magazine, etc.   Even if not staying there you just had to drop in at least once and gamble.  I can still see the floating astronauts.  So while VW morphed into The Stratosphere, the Sahara faded, shut down, nothing there until SES or whatever it was called opened and bombed in record time.  Old Sahara fans, if any left, have already moved over and out.  I always hope a new business will thrive, so I had some optimism that the name alone would be a draw.  Not these days, apparently.

Sahara is gone

I think The "Holy Cow" was in there somewhere.

I hope it manages to limp along until Resorts World opens.  Eventually there will be some activity down that way.

But yes....for God's sake why not give us some incentive to go.

Like Cosmo did for many years with their "play $100 get $100 in freeplay offer".

Since bean counters rule the roost these days, incentives are viewed as evil.
