Now, they just need to do away with "losing rooms" (every room in the casino).

Excellent.  Nothing worse than booking a non-smoking room, they are all out when you check in and you get to live in an ashtray for a night.

Next time that happens ask to have the room de-fogged.  They can and should and will do that.

One time we checked into an actual non-smoking room, but it was evident that the guest before us had smoked.  Very strong smoke odor.  I called to have us moved.  They said they could clear out the smoke order if we could give them an hour to use the machine; if it didn't work they would move us.  I was skeptical.  As they were bringing in the machine we went to the casino for an hour; were amazed when we returned, the odor was gone and stayed gone.  I'd not have believed it would work so well.

I had the exact same thing happen at the 4Q a few months ago. They only had a smoking room left (even though I had requested a nonsmoking room when I made the reservation), and it was take it or sleep in my car. I was seriously considering saying the hell with it, when they told me they could de-stink it. Like you, I thought, "Yeah, right, they're going to come in there with a can or air freshener or something." But they brought in the de-fogger, and lo and behold, no stink! A small trace of the stink came back in the morning, but it was tolerable.

Now, we need that stuff in spray cans so we can use it on people who are smoking (tasers are even more effective, but there are some silly laws preventing that).

Seems like casinos are the only place I still see smokers anymore.     But, yeah, get that crap out of the rooms.

Honestly, the smoke smell doesn't bother me that much even though I don't smoke. It is also a nice cover if you want to smoke something else in the room.
