Sources Say Circus Circus Las Vegas is Sold

Maybe someone needs a parking lot.  102 acres would be a big parking lot. Or, and this would be good, it could mean things are happening on that end of the strip.

That part of the Strip needs revitalization anyway. How about a big fancy hotel with stratospheric room rates, $58 a night resort fees, $25 parking, 6:5 blackjack, and the tightest video poker and slots in the universe? Oh, and let's not forget mediocre, overpriced restaurants and a showroom that books acts who are almost dead and charges $110 to hear them croak out their greatest hits from 1971.

We obviously need more of that sort of thing.

I favor the implosion of Circus Circus primarily because I can't stand the color pink. I've always called it "Pepto Bismol Pepto Bismol" for what the decor reminds me of.

Another glowing diatribe by the one and hopefully only Kevin. He never disappoints , God bless him.

Kevin is the Counterpoint Man.  Remember Point/Counterpoint?  60 Minutes feature, I think.  Or was it 20/20?

Naw.  Ya'll are too young.

Wasn't that the weekly pseudo-debate between the grouchy old conservative white guy and the younger, somewhat ditzy liberal woman? I seem to remember "Jack" and Shana"...

I'm surprised actually.    That place has been a massive cash cow for MGM for years.    They paid off the initial loan off years ago - so they just rake in cash.

I think CC always got a bad rap.    It was a true dive for years  but they took huge strides to clean it up.    The last few years its been a bonafide "fun place" to hang out (little shithead kids aside).    And the new tower rooms are up to par with most standard rooms on the strip.

Too bad they couldn't revive Slots-A-Fun next door.     That place is a tomb which is a shame because that used to be a great place too.

+1. I remember having a blast at Slots A Fun when they had $1 blackjack and craps, smart-ass/funny dealers, and....free donuts!

And the hot dogs!   Never stayed long, (kinda smelly, the lovely fusion of popcorn and hot dog aromas).  Didn't the Las Vegas Advisor run a coupon for something at SOF long time ago?

Circus Circus Circus Circus Circus and Slots of Fun meld together seamlessly. They're extremely downscale in an otherwise upscale market. Cheapo greasy food, circus acts, pink everything. Bring the kids! I remember them as a place where you could buy a hot dog or bet on a hand of blackjack for a mere dollar. Prices have gone up, of course, but the ambiance is still there...including all the screaming kids.

It's a tribute to Vegas tackiness whose time has probably passed, but I do have memories. Like the $2.99 buffet! When my friend saw me hesitating at the entrance to the buffet, he told me, "Hey, it's cheaper than food!" And he was right! It was!
