Total Rewards Points

Hello all, I have been gone from the boards for a while and just returned. I have what will likely turn out to be a stupid question but I will toss it out there anyway. This past October was my last trip to Vegas and I stayed at Bally's as I usually do. A couple weeks after my return I logged into the Total Reward web site to check my points balance (I am a small player) and found that my points balance was 16K lower then when I left for the trip. Now this was the first time I had used an offer for my hotel stay (here is the stupid question part). Did using a hotel offer from the Total Rewards website cost me 15K in points or should I be calling and asking what happened (yes I realize it was several months ago and I am slow). Just curious.

thanks
Is it possible that you went 6 months prior to going to Vegas without earning any tier credits? After 6 months of inactivity, CET wipes your account clean.
More correctly, here's the following from CET's FAQ section on the Total Rewards website:

"Your Reward Credits expire when it has been more than 6 months since you have earned a Reward Credit. In order to extend the expiration date you must earn 1 (one) Reward Credit and it must post to your Total Rewards account at least once every 6 months at any casino that participates in the Total Rewards program. We also offer the Total Rewards Visa credit card* and the Total Rewards Marketplace, that allows you to earn 1 (one) Bonus Reward Credit for every $1.00 in purchases and keeps your Reward Credit balance active as long as you use it at least once every 6 months. The Bonus Reward Credits added to your Reward Credit balance do not count towards Tier Score or Tier Status. For more information please visit our web site."
thanks for the reply. I guess I forgot to add that I am and remain very diligent to travel to the closets Harrah's to me (Harrah's Joliet) to ensure that does not happen and when I check my balance before leaving for the trip I had more then 2 month before any point expiration. Well according to the Total Rewards wed site anyway. I should add that when I discovered all the missing points I attempted to contact customer service via a number i got from the web site and after several attempts I only got voice mail. I also did email as well and got no response. I did get a call returned but was told to contact a Total rewards both at the hotel I stayed at to address my question (Bally's). I have nto done this yet but guess I should give it a try.

If going to Harrahs Joliet is conveninet, I recommend going in person. Ask them to look up your account. The computer should be able to tell you where and/or how your points were used.
One thing that comes to mind is identify fraud. That is, if someone obtained a copy of your card, and an employee was not diligent in checking the ID, it would be possible for someone else who understands how TR works to use your points for meals or whatever.

However, I find Harrahs pretty diligent about required ID's, but I would not be surprised if there are persons in a city like Vegas who know how to game the comp system to use other people's points.
First question why did you wait this long?

Unlike some casinos I have never used an offer that they charged me TR credits. However when you check in they do ask if you want to apply your TR credits to your bill. I always say no. Did you review your bill when you checked out? they do make computer errors (more frequently than you would expect) but if confronted they usually will rectify it. by e mail or showing up at the TR desk.

I do check my TR balances and tier score often.
I too am pretty diligent about writing down my TR points before I head to a casino and after I leave I pull up my acct online and record my points.

Do you think it could have been something on your hotel charges that were covered with points instead of going to your credit card? When I check into a Harrah's property, the front desk clerk always ask me if I want to use my points for charges while I'm there. I always tell them I will make that determination at check out and not to check the option to automatically us my points for charges on my hotel bill.

You may want to look at your credit card statement to see if you were charged for incidentals while in Vegas and if you still have your hotel receipt...compare the two. If you don't have your receipt, the hotel can provide you with another copy if you ask.
sorry, i should have read my post before replying.

what I mean to say is when I leave the casino and get back home I pull up my TR account and compare the points I had before I left and what my account is now showing. and the last thing I usually do before I leave the casino is insert my card in the last machine before going out to door to check my totals.
Mystery solved (sort of) I finally got a Total rewards booth supervisor on the phone and he explained that the points where taken as part of the hotel bill from my last stay. I stayed 7 nights (3 comped). What he could not explain is the why they did it and despite my complaints not a chance I am getting them back. Oh well. I am a small player and these days no players club cares about my puny play. I suspect cause I did not play as much as normal that maybe I didn't meet there expectations maybe so they took the comped nights out of my points??? not sure but what is done is done.
