TR Credit Card Platinum Status past 2016

We used our TR Visa card for some remodeling we were doing on our house. Needless to say, there were more than $10000 worth of charges made. We got a letter telling us to take it to one of 3 TR desks when we're in Vegas (Caesar's & the Cromwell were 2 of them) and they'd issue a VIP card so I don't think it's tied to your actual player's card.
Thanks for that info xan51090.

Edited to add that I called and got some information today but I don't know how good it is since they said that you don't get a special card you just use your Visa card as proof , which is the opposite of what xan51090 was told.

I was told they swipe it to tell. Not sure if I want the cashier and valet and anybody else swiping my card.

I was also told it is not a Diamond card , you do have to pay resort fees.
CET always has a catch, it seems. I absolutely hate paying resort fees as a Platinum card holder.

I am just three thousand tier away from Diamond status. I am hoping to achieve that on our August trip. I hope they do the promo again for the bonus tier credits after the first of the year. Otherwise this may be my one and only shot!

I also hate the resort fees. I'm using the RCs I earn with my TR credit card to pay them.

Good discussion. You can see how they try to bait you. For me, I go to Vegas 2, maybe 3 times a year for 2-3 days. None of those VIP perks interest me as I don't use the pool, nor nightclubs, maybe skipping the check in line might be nice, but not super important. If resort fee's aren't waived, then I'm almost at what's the point? Without changing my gambling behavior, I've already hit gold in mLife and they've adopted most the same TR benefits, special check in/out line, shorter buffet lines, etc. You get NOTHING at Harrah's Rincon for being Platinum.

I'm actually kind of sad. TR was my go to in Vegas for so many years. The first group to comp me a room. They have a couple table games I really enjoy that others do not. It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of years as they re-org from bankruptcy.
I am waiting for answer but it seems to me that getting the VIP status for spending 10K gives you some of the same benefits Platinum has currently, such as a special line for the buffet and check in. I asked specifically if next year Platinum no longer makes these special lines for Platinum available and you need to be VIP to not wait on the regular line.

This would be a double bait and switch since I am spending 5k to make Platinum next year and it may not do squat for anyone. I hate spending 5 K on the card I hate the card because you cannot set up autopay, and do not want to put 10K on it.

I will post if I get an answer does anybody else read it like me?

vantzy I agree with you if that is all you get it's not much more than Platinum for $5,000 more. Especially since I don't care about Night clubs or pools. So really it's just valet.

I think perhaps they are fazing out Platinum perks. Really LV is about the only place that has Platinum lines.

I didn't know you couldn't do auto pay on it that is kind of bizarre. Groceries, air fare and gas earn 2x rewards . Spending at CET : resort fees, restaurants and shows earn 5x . Between those categories $5,000 is about about 420 a month and doable . My card just arrived in the mail and I will give it a whirl for a year. I will be going to LV in September and perhaps get better answers then.
The answered me and re-stated the VIP benefits and says you can use Diamond Lines with the VIP which everywhere while Platinum lines are only some places. They did not mention access to the Diamond Lounge so it is pretty obvious it is not included otherwise it would have been mentioned.

The other thing they mentioned re Platinum is the following:

With regard to 2016 Total Rewards benefits, they have not been decided and finalized yet, as such, we cannot communicate any possible changes to our guests. If there will be any changes, we will let our guests know in 2016. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

So they are saying spend 5 K to get Platinum but they have not defined what Platinum includes. It is bad business I think and I will tell them that.

FYI you can set up the account with Comenity Bank from which to draw funds to pay your credit card balance, but you can not set it up to pay it monthly automatically. You must sign on monthly and then tell it to pay the balance from the account you have connected to the account.

It is horrible, I complained about this for years, but still has not changed.

I agree that the VIP status is not worth getting. But you are getting RCs which are nice to spend, so what's the problem. The perks are clearly stated on the bill. I like the program but I do pay off the balance every month.
