TR visa platinum status

I didn't earn Platinum last year through TR credits due to missing my big trip. Sigh. The credit card, however, says it will allow platinum status if you spend $5k/year.

Any clue if this is true and when it kciks in? Platinum status says it will expire 1/31.
It is true that if you spend $5000/yr. that you earn platinum status. If I remember right from last year if you have spent that much in 2016 it will reset on 1/31 to platinum 1/31/18.
Using my Total Rewards credit card is how I maintain my platinum status. This also gives me lots of RCs to spend. It's a great system if you avoid the high interest rate by paying off every month.
Cool. I thought it reset earlier than that last year. I'll keep an eye on things..

A bit late to chime in but I am also Platinum courtesy of the Visa card. Works for me. If you want to spend 10,000 they have and upgrade but I didn't think it was worth it. The Platinum benfits are getting less and less, so I applied for the Founders Card and that gives you Diamond. We shall see.
Founders card? Have not heard of it. Where do I find information on it?
If you google it you can see the benefits ,TA and many other LV sites carry info on it. Every year you get Diamond status , it gives you all the benefits free show tickets, Diamond dinner, cut e the lines etc.

If you are referred by a member you can get promo codes. I just joined for 295 a year. You are suppose to be a business owner. I heard a rumor that the Diamond rules might be changing at the end of the month so I am not recommending anyone until after then.
I have the total rewards platinum credit card and spent over $5000 last year and they bumped me back to Gold. Did anyone else have that happen?
I had that happen the first year. It was strange part of the site said I was gold and others said I was Platinum. A few days later it all straightened out. I just looked and it is now it is showing Gold but I also spent 5,000 and should be Platinum. I will see what happens.
