Tropicana Opens Swanky New Trago Lounge

I got married at the Trop back in '95. We visit every year just to reminise and see what's new. That old girl has seen a lot over the years and lately it's been going downhill for the last 10 years or so, IMO. I truly believe that if the Tropicana was on the oppisite end of the Strip it would've been gone by now. The place just has no identity anymore, no theme like it did. I really would like to see that place embrace the Vegas of yesteryear. I'll betcha that a lot of oldtimers would be drawn to a concept like that.

I agree.  I didn't like it when they painted the whole exterior white - it just looks washed out.  And the inside is bland.  So much could be done with this property.

The last time I was in there, a year or two ago. I was there to see what was happening there, what kind of crowd they had etc. It was in the a.m. and it may have been a weekday, but there weren't many people there. I walked around checking quarter JOB paytables, which were typical strip paytables.

I also checked out restaurant prices, and I left thinking this place doesn't have a prayer, their prices were like they thought they were the Bellagio. Many of the people I saw had lanyards around their necks, so without those type of customers the place would have been a real ghost town.

Its not my kinda place but they definitely have their own set of regulars....they tend to be a little older.     Give them some credit - they still believe in free parking, comped rooms, and generous offers to mid-tier players.    There is something to be said for that given the policies of their neighbors.

I'd stay at Tropicana over MGM any day.

I watched a video of a walk-thru/tour of the Trop on a youtube vlog (Living in Las Vegas) and the place comes across well on the video. As stated in the video it is bright and quite visually appealing.

I reccomend the Living in Las Vegas vlog. It's done by a likeable couple and their son who are former Ohio residents, and with me being an Ohioan I may have a bias.
