VP tourney Ballys

Hey all I just signed up for 75K tourney Bally's/IP in May. I thought it was slots but when I called for info I was told VP. Any hints? Do you get so many hands or do you get so many minutes? Anyone done this before?

Just a quick aside. I checked on line and I am comped 3 nights but Sunday was 75 for North tower deluxe, South tower free. When I spoke the Ballys rep they said Friends and family was only 55 a night LOL. Evidently my friends/family get a better rate than I do.

You get an set number of hands to play in a set amount of time. Tournament strategy says to go for the big hands. Go on line and download one of the tutorial programs to build up your speed so you can play through all the hands and not have any left at the end of the time.
You get a time period, like 10 minutes. (The two tourneys we have done at Bally's had no set number of hands.)

The game is usually Double Double Bonus at Bally's. You really have to hit a Royal, or more than one kicker hand to be in the top money. In one tournament I hit one four two's (no kicker) and I ended up with a $100 prize. In another tourney I hit two lower 4 of a kinds (5-K's) and also got $100.

The trouble with Bally's VP tournaments are that (a) the machines are uprights and not slant tops (like Flamingo). (b) It takes place in the shopping mall area, so you may have lots of movement and noise around you (Flamingo: quiet). And (c) Except for the top prizes, the prize money is given in Reel Rewards and they TELL YOU it must be played on Slots and not video poker. You can try VP, but it may not work on some machines (higher-paying). It may work on terrible VP. Otherwise, you have to run your prize money through a slot machine and if you are lucky you may get most of it out.

Good luck,

LOL I get 2 opposite answers, but good info from both thanks. I will call or e mail as soon as a definite go (when I find decent airfare) and find out what the game is. I had somewhere in the back of my brain that is was DDB. Any suggestions for a tutorial site?

Outside noise not a problem I just had 3 grandkids stay who played i pods, laptops and had the tv going full tilt all at the same time LOL.

Reel play kinda stinks but again I will be playing anyway, so not a huge deal ( I do play slots also). The only slot tourney I did at CET was IP/Rio, I won 200 cash , had a blast, free rooms, bottle of baileys, coffee mugs, dove chocolate and a few other things. I brought 2 friends and they were so impressed. I hope to have as much fun this time and I do play VP a bit, so I hope to get lucky.

I always play my reel rewards through the Wheel of Fortune in the high limit area and end up with more money most of the time.
