WARNING about Reel Reward Coupons

I'm probably the only one that didn't know this, but thought I'd post anyway.

I received in snail mail a Reel Rewards slot play coupon for $150 to use at Harrah's. No hotel stay required. Just stick the coupon in the machine. OK!

I read the fine print, which DID NOT tell me that the coupon is good in one machine only, you have to play it through in THAT machine.

I had looked around, thought I'd try it in a WOF for a few spins. I got a few minor hits but things didn't look promising for this machine. So I hit the cashout button with $120 remaining, thinking I'd get to use this in other machine(s). What came out was a TITO for $45, instead of $120. The attendant pointed out that my WOF machine was still showing $105 credit, which I could do nothing with except play it through. Of course, I didn't even get a SPIN out of the whole thing. I cashed my $45 and got the heck out of there.

If you get one of these in the mail, just know that the machine you put that coupon in is it...you can't cash out and move to another machine with the balance.

Thanks for listening to my gripe!
Hi O2bnVegas,
That is not new at all. All FP from Caesar's/Harrah's properties operates like this. Ever since they went to the Reel Rewards coupons a few years ago, that has been the case. As a matter of fact, they changed them soon after because you could put the coupon in then hit the cash out button for that amount. The best thing to do is pick a machine, put in the coupon and figure out how many points you need ($5 = 1 point, $10 = 1 point in VP) before you have played through the entire amount to cash out. My suggestion is to always play VP with any free play, you have the best chance of cashing out the FP.
For example, on your machine you should have gotten 30 points and then cashed out with what you had left.
What you may be used it to downloadable slot play, which many casinos do as well. Where you can download an amount then move and download another amount.
I think you can change it for other denominations at the cage though - I do not ever deal with this problem because my RR coupons are never for more than $50. LOL
Seems like no matter what "freebies" the casinos offer that there is always a "catch".

I've gotten these for the Reno/Tahoe Harrahs properties $100 -$200 amounts. The cashier staff has changed there into lower dollar amounts. They've never let me go to $5 denominations, $10 was the lowest they would do, but that is better than having to play $100 through one machine that isn't working for me. Plus the exchanged coupons you receive have expiration dates sometimes good for 6 months. So if you know you'll be back you could save these and combine them with any new reel rewards play you receive. Or I give my husband some so he gets to use some free play which he usually doesn't receive as the exchanged coupons you get aren't linked to your account and can be used by anyone. Don't lose them!
I always change mine for lower denomination ones at the casino cage - normally not a problem, but if they refuse you, just ask to speak to a supervisor.

mhetrick, August in Laughlin, every vp machine I wanted to play did not accept reel reward coupons. Had to play them through on slots.
It's easy to change to lower denominations at the cashier. Just tell them the machine wouldn't take it.
MissL77777,
Wow, really? That's not good, but not surprising that they would not let people use freeplay on the good VP machines.
Yep. I don't know if it applied to all vp machines or just the first couple I tried to play. I kept trying to use the reel reward coupon and the guy sitting next to me showed me the sticker saying they weren't good on that machine. They also weren't good on the 25c progressive.
