What happened to TV check out

Never bother checking out, ever, anywhere. Leave the key cards on the counter and go.

That's very inconsiderate towards other travelers hoping to check in to your vacated room.

Seems really selfish to me.
When I was at Four Queens this week, I noticed that it said that TV Check Out was only available between 6AM and 12 Noon Daily.

Hmmm. Hadn't actually thought of that aspect, only setting the bill and it's on a charge. However, they can't have the room until it's cleaned and that's when it becomes available. They operate on a schedule for the most part, we put out the clean the room sign, so I can't imagine the time difference amounts to much. Perhaps they jump around based on people checking out but it's never appeared that way to me. Often the cleaning people are right there as we leave with our luggage.

Still, you make a good point and I think I'll ask at the desk, see what they tell me. If it matters to get the room back on the market, I'll start checking out.

1 - Maids are often right there and know you have left.
2 - They come knocking on the door often and know you have left, or still in the room
3 - We usually say something to the maid as we walk down the hall " 207 is empty"
4 - One assumes the maid would even KNOW or be NOTIFIED that you actually checked out. It is not like they have access to the up to the minute list of who actually checked out. They do have a list of who is supposed to check out.
5 - They are not going to get to all the rooms prior to checkout time anyways, and will be working well into the afternoon doing rooms that either checked out or not.

I would think it would a very rare situation that maids were standing around when there empty rooms, and they did not know it. Therefore, it is not inconsiderate.

I think they do get some sort of notification that someone has checked out. Twice I have called the bell desk and while waiting for the bellman checked out via either TV or phone and within 10 minutes while still waiting, had housekeping show up to clean my room, and both times, she seemed surprised to find me still in the room.

btw.....do they still have a 'clean the room' sign? For the past few years, I have gotten door signs that read 'do not disturb' on both sides

I check out at the front desk each time. Is it a pain? Yes. Is it nice to see you don't have any surprise charges before you leave? Yes.

One of the few times I didn't check out, I was charged for 3 additional buffets @ MGM Grand. Who knows how that happened....... :/
