What used to be Winterfest

Has anybody got any information on tournaments in November/December? They used to be called Winterfest.

The Winterfest and Summerfest slot tourneys USED to be cattle call, run 'em through the mill type, though not as bad as that sounds. Not invitationals, and not much in the way of perks like you get with their invitationals. Anyone and everyone was eligible. Staff used to roam the casino giving away the entry blanks to players.

What you got was 10 minutes or so on a machine in a group of machines roped off from the rest of the casino, 20 players or so at a time. If you "won" you got to play again in another round, and so on. I never did them, but did watch the action at time or two.

Things have changed and this could be outdated information.

Harrah's "real" invitational tourneys used to be excellent with lots of perks, especially food. Haven't done one in many years.

I had been to some of the Summer/Winterfests but am wondering if anyone had anything on what they are doing this winter that is comparable.

Don't know about Winterfest, but we did participate in the Summersplash(replaced summerfest) slot tournament at the Rio. It was held on their usual tournament machines by the seafood restaurant (Buzio's). The summersplash invitation got you a 10 minute round each of 3 days. By earning 200 tier points you could earn an additional 10 minute round the same day you earned the tier points. You could earn a total of 2 additonal 10 minute rounds per day. The additional rounds were held each day after the regular tournament rounds finished and you could pick your machine to play somewhat in the additional rounds.

I haven't received any invitations to tournaments that might be the winterfest replacement as yet.
