What would make you take 5 comped days at Ballys over Planet Hollywood?

To be honest, I'm probably looking for a reason to switch. We have 5 days at Planet Hollywood, 8/14th- 19th, and yet my girl (who has never stayed at Planet Hollywood) is asking me why we don't switch to Ballys. She/ we love the indigo lounge and she can't figure out why I havent made the change. I'm thinking that a P Ho room - Hollywood "something" would be nicer than a Ballys room ( I've only stayed in a Ballys room for 1 night when lil sis had a suite), and I figure she would like the P Ho room. But lately I have been wondering myself if I should make the switch?!

As a 50 plus years old, I am also beginning to wonder if Ballys atmosphere may be more to my/our liking than P Ho (for 5 days). I need help, guidance (and prayer for stressing about this with 65 days left before our trip). Please help
Does your girl like to take baths and like hotel rooms that have large bathrooms? The bathrooms at PHo are larger, nicer and all have large soaking tubs with a separate shower. Every room I've had at Bally's has had a standard bathroom with a combo tub/shower.

I stayed at PHo for the 1st time last week since it became PHo and was pleasantly surprised and would stay there again in a heartbeat. Why, the rooms are newer and nicer than Bally's North Tower. Yes, the casino was loud at 1 am, but Paris was equally as loud much earlier in the evening. Once upstairs, everything was quiet at night. And, it's a 5 minute walk to Bally's.

I stayed there once when it was the new Aladdin. My room then was probably the equivalent of today's Hollywood Hip room. It had the large bathroom and was nicely appointed, however, it faced east. I basically had a view of the miracle mile mall roof. This time I had a resort room with a view of the Bellagio fountains.

One of the things I noticed was the employees no longer have an attitude. Previously, when I went to the players card desk (before CET took over) or at the front desk, I felt the employees had attitudes and I was an inconvenience to them. eg, previously, I felt like it was a hassle if I asked someone to print me a new card.

Feel free to PM with specific questions.
I've never stayed at PHO but dislike the casino. I'm sure the rooms are probably superior as Lisa stated. My wife and I are also in our 50's and PHO attracts a much younger crowd. I've got nothing against young people but sometimes in Vegas they can be ignorant and obnoxious. I also find the PHO casino hard to navigate. I always have a hard time finding a restroom or even the exit.

We can stay at any CET property comped and we choose Paris. Paris rooms may be inferior to PHO or Caesars, but we like the casino. We also like the dining choices and the fact that it's connected to Ballys.

So if the room is important, stay at PHO. Or if like us, you like to do most of your gambling where you are staying, I'd choose Ballys. Are you a comped CET player? If so, consider Paris.
yo eleven, I felt that way about PHo until I stayed there. I seriously thought about changing my rezzy to Paris because I was concerned about staying at PHo, for the reasons you stated. Then convinced myself I should try new things. Staying at PHo is what changed my mind about the property. I was pleasantly surprised. I never heard loud drunk people in the hallway like I have at Ballys. Plus, I saw fewer kids.

Paris was equally LOUD at night and also attracts a younger crowd, and has the dancing girls (bevtainers). That music clashed with the live band, and bothered me more than the loud music at PHo.

For the record, I'm well past my 20's & 30's and closer to your age, LOL.

Pho still has nickel stp located in the back between the heart bar and mall entrance.
A few months ago I had a mail offer from CET. When I called up, they said I could have a Roman Tower room at Ceasers or a Hollywood hip room at PH. I took the PH offer.

1. I was there on a mid week, 3 night stay, and the $20 trick (ok $40) did get me into a Resort room.
Definitely worth the $40.

2. I must be the only person on this site who doesn't like the rooms at Bally's North or South tower.
That said, I basically agree with MissL.

3. Ballys poker room does have a 3-6 limit game which seems to be always going. Howeveer there is a minimum $4 rake. I don't think you get any comps for it.
PH only has no limit .

On a rare occasion that my wife joined me in Las Vegas, we went to PHO just to see it.
My wife really did think that the women taking drink orders were prostitutes. They do look like that.

The noise and young crowd. IMHO is not suitable to serious players (card games) but if I am there alone, on a comp, I would stay there but play somewhere else.
I love those nickel STP machines. I think I played on them one time for 6 hours straight. If they were DOUBLE STP, I'd be in heaven!

Big brother, I feel your angst. Basically, I think the Bally's casino vibe (lots of poker and table players, indigo lounge and seemingly smaller casino) wins hands down but the rooms at PH are nicer, love the sheets and the bed though I think the Bally's rooms are bigger. Views from PH may be nicer as well.

For me the other advantage of Bally's is casino hopping for promotions, which is big for me and not so big maybe for you. But in the August heat, Bally's being at the crossroads of Flamingo and LVBS I find to be a tiny benefit. Just hop over the bridge and in 5 minutes you can walk through Bills and be in Flamingo or at Caesars or hop on the shuttle to Gold Coast or bus to Terrible's. (I walked before in the heat in August during the day and would advise against walking from the strip to Terrible's because it really does feel like you are walking through the desert!)

I've never been in the Bally's Spa so you should compare the workout area of Ballys to PHO to see if that would make a difference. My guess is that PH's is nicer.

Would also compare the pools in case you want to check those out though I'm hoping -- still waiting to see what weekend specific comp tourney/free play/or tix offers pop up the weekend we are both there -- that I'll have Celine tickets with Caesars for 2-3 nights so your using the Caesars pools those days wouldn't be an issue as I'd just give you and your gal one of my room keys.

I love unpacking and staying one place a week straight so I get that appeal though to take advantage of promos I am definitely not doing that this time. The other option is for you to split the trip and enjoy what PH has to offer for a few days and then finish up the trip at Bally's when I arrive. I don't think you'll be unhappy at PH. It's a beautiful casino. But, if you check in and after a day aren't feeling it you could move over to Bally's a couple of days earlier using one of the "friends and family" coupons I gave you for 2 comped weekday nights. I'd actually just have your gal book those two days now so you have them and then you can always cancel.
Yes the bathrooms are really large in the PH rooms but their amenity bottles are weird little square things and its hard to get stuff out of them. My sisters and I stayed @ PH 2 years ago and we found the rooms to be dark, only one little window. I know you're not in them much, but I don't like dark rooms, and at pushing 50 myself, I find I spend more time in the room now than I did 10 years ago. Also, does anyone else have problems with their cell phones working in PH? I never have a signal!
PH rooms are nice but I agree with you TECramer on the darkness of the room. I usually have to do some work while in Vegas and the dark rooms and limited desk lighting make that challenging. Basically, the Bally's rooms are more plain but they get more light and seem bigger to me. The furnishings at Bally's are also lighter. The furnishings at PHo are newer and more "hip" but hey are also darker.
The PH room has nicer furnishings and a nicer bathroom, but I prefer Bally's.
The room is way bigger and I like the location better.
