What's The Process For Using Reward Credits To Pay For Room?

I will be staying at the Rio in February, and I would like to use my reward credits to pay for the room. I made the reservation online, and they are charging the first night as a deposit on my credit card. When I check in, is that the time to tell them I want to pay with my reward credits? Will they give me a credit for my first night (on my credit card?). I've never done this before, so any help would be appreciated!

It's when I check out at RIO they ask me if I want to use my points.

I have told them at check-in I would like to use my points for the entire stay and have the first night charge reversed on my CC. Always been told to just come back to the desk at check-out (instead of using video check-out) and they will take care of it. This has always worked and the first night charge has been revereed with 3-4 days.

Wait until checkout time. If you are going to play a lot at Rio you can ASK, at the end of your stay, if anything can be comped off BEFORE you committ your RCs. But they won't do anything until you check out anyway. That's when you tell them to use your RCs to pay for charges.

As mentioned, there will be a "pending" 1st night charge posted to your credit card when you check in, nothing you can do about it unless you pony up cash at check-in. Every hotel does this. That charge will go away 3-5 days after you've checked out and cleared the account.
