...And those 3 hotels that the Horseshoe offers as comps would be... 1 - Ritz Carlton 2 - Renaissance Cleveland 3 - Marriott Key Center
Ritz-Carlton rooms are larger than Renaissance. Reni is an old hotel and room size reflects the era the building was built. Despite the size the rooms are nice.
Access to the Horseshoe is easier at the Renaissance as it's next door to the casino but you do have to walk outside. Ritz is attached to the casino via Tower City mall but it's a longer walk. Not a bad walk but will take longer to access the casino. Staying indoors is a good thing if the weather is lousy.
Marriott is about 1 & 1/2 blocks away from the Horsehoe. Rooms are standard Marriott size & decor. I would place Marriott third due to it's location.
I prefer the Ritz because of the larger room, service, and nice indoor pool area. I guess go with the best rate between Ritz & Renaissance. If both are comped I would go with Ritz-Carlton.
The "hate" had died. Now it's just a passive interest on his career. He still does a lot of good for the community - charity work and runs a great baskeball camp here in the summer. Things that don't make the press much anymore but mean a lot to people around here.
My next door neighbor's son went to high school with Lebron and played football with him way back when he played both sports. I have only seen Lebron at his basketball camp but have never met him.
There are those who will never forgive him but a lot of us have moved on.
I have family that lives in Akron, on Packard (off of Copley), and a niece who went to St. Vincents with Lebron. All of my relatives in Akron say the same thing. He left Cleveland but has not deserted Akron.
I actually went, with my girl last October (after a funeral), to take a picture of his house. Glad to hear that he hasn't forgotten where he comes from!
I was a Huge Lebron fan from his freshman year on. My wife and I followed and watched his St. V team play all over the country. Talked with this man many times over a 10 year period. I was one of his greatest supporters for years. Once Lebron reached the NBA things were great but then his ego along with the culture of the NBA started to catch up with him and he started losing the values he had learned from those who supported and nurtured him during his school years. St. V and coach Dambrot kept him grounded and down to earth. I always said I would be a Lebron fan no matter where he played but with his attitude turning toward that of a pompous ass and NBA thug I started to waiver from that thought. Once he shit all over Cleveland with that show of his not even showing respect to the ownership group that gave him and his gang anything they wanted I changed my tune. I now do not really care much about the NBA and have switched back to highschool basketball again. As far as Lebron being so great to the city of Akron I say he has drasticlly dropped of in his support of Akron. The people are just hanging on for any scraps he throws towards Akron and forgot what a great contributer that he once was to all of northeast Ohio. His support for this area is little and is becoming less and less each year.
Lebron really was the KING of Northeast Ohio. He "chose" to change that the day he took his talents to South Beach. This was Lebron's town and the people here loved him like their own. He will never have that sincere fan base again that he had here. Do you think the people of Miami care about Lebron or just winning basketball games. Northeast Ohio WAS home and one that you will never be the King of again.
If you think I am just spouting off take a look at my screen name and you will see that I have been following this topic for years.
Lebron James is just a basketball player, not the second coming. Those of you who rant about his departure need to grow up and move on with your own lives.
You don't have to walk outside to get to the Renaissance. We were there last night. You walk out the casino doors that are for Platinum, diamond, and 7 Star only on the first floor by the Public Square entrance to the casino. These doors exist into Tower City right by Public Square. Just head straight forward while still in Tower City and you will be walking parallel to Public Square. You will walk right past the Renaissance Hotel security and will see a sign right there that is at the bottom of carpeted steps that says hotel guests only. Walk up the steps and you are in the Renaissance Hotel lobby. It's actually closer than the Ritz.
