My rooms at the Hard Rock have always been nice. Normally I stay in a regular room though once I stayed in one of their HRH suites. The only disadvantage in staying in the newer tower is that it is a long walk from the hotel registration desk and main casino. The HRH suites have their own separate check in and is closer to the new tower (The HRH suite/tower is also fairly new). To reach the elevators for the new tower, you have to walk down the hallway past the Pink Taco and some other restaurants and shops, turn left and go down another hallway. Even though I've rambled on about the distance this tower is from the hotel's registration desk, it really isn't that big of a deal unless you or someone in your traveling party gets around slowly. I wouldn't want my 85 year old father to make this walk but he doesn't visit Vegas and if he did, I don't think he would choose the Hard Rock, since it's not the first choice of older folks.
Though newer, the rooms in the new tower aren't really any better than those attached to the older part of the casino.
