I got a cheap rate with them next week but have never rented from them before. Anyone have any pros or cons? I'm renting at the airport and returning at Main Street Station.
They will try to sell you insurance and gas and second driver etc. Just hold firm and it will be OK. It is slower than many of the others since you have to wait in line, and once you have been given your paperwork, you have to check in at the booth downstairs. A bit of a pain but if the savings are decent, it's probably worth it.
Rented from them last year. Had no problems. Rented from them 3 years ago. P/u at airport. Changed to different car downtown and dropped that at the airport. No problems. I am renting from them this year also.
Haven't used Advantage before today. Just booked a mid-size for five days in February - grand total of $49. Never seen a price this low so I'm a little wary. We never go for the up-sell, I'm hoping there aren't any surprise charges...
I also saw the $49.00 price for 5 days. Has anyone rented from them and actually received the car for the $49.00 rate? You know what they say, if it sounds too good to be true. I'm afraid to book with them and then be told I should have realized it was a mistake.
They just got sold by Hertz and all my old reservations did not work on their link.
I called them and they said they were having issues with the data migration since Hertz did not give them the reservation info until after the sale.
Bottom line, I dumped their reservations for this trip tomorrow through January. They were cheaper some of the time, but not all of the time I still have reservations with them for March and April which they confirmed are still there.
Look at your contract carefully and compare it to your reservation. I strongly recommend you have your reservation printed out in case there is an issue and there might be.
They will try to charge you for roadside assistance. I said I have AAA and if the car your breaks down I am calling you to come get me and bring me another one. They said it did not matter I needed roadside assistance.
They had to get a supervisor to "override" the roadside assistance which I was told was mandatory.
I said BS take it off and after 10 minutes it came off.
Also look at the car, they gave me two which has plastic coming off the car like at the bumper sections. They forgot to cancel the reservation for the car with the pieces coming off and they said I rented two. I got a call asking when I was going to return the white car (which I never took) and I explained that I could not rent two cars at the same time from them and they should see someone else probably took it.
They called me back and said they figured it out and I do not have the white car....
I used them in Reno in September and got a Camry for a great price. I have a reservation in Vegas for March 2013 with a guaranteed price. After the ownership change I checked the reservation using the confirmation number and the price was $160 more. I emailed a question about this one week ago and have no received a response. I cancelled the reservation as I cannot do business with a company that appears to be "shady."
