Best bet is the new Westcliff Airport Express to Carson & 4th. It doesn't have a number, I think it's called "WAX" instead.

I think it's $2, but there's a chance it's considered a premium service, so you probably should have a $5 handy.
I used it from the airport to downtown $2.00 4th and Carson is the drop off point, still would be a long walk to MSS with luggage.
We always take the bus from the airport to MSS via the 108, and the new routes are a pain in the ass; moving the downtown hub from the DTC on Stewart to the new BTC on Bonneville basically makes it easier to get to the jail and harder to get to the downtown casinos; the net result is that we downtown folks are stuck with the Deuce.

Anyway, from what I can see, there are two options:

1. The WAX, as mentioned above. It's not a premium line, should be $2, but only runs every hour or so and drops off at 4th and Carson, behind Fitzgerald's (long walk for MSS, not so bad for other Fremont ST properties). The good news is that it uses the Interstate and is only a 25 minute ride from the airport; also, the southbound stop is at Fremont and Casino Center.

2. Take the 108 to the BTC, then change to either the 207 or 208, which should drop you off near Main and Ogden.

We'll be going in February, haven't tried out the new routes yet. Anyone that has any more advice, I'd really appreciate it.

The WAX route is $2.00 from AP to DT drops off next to the Fitz. It worked well for me staying at the Fitz. I thought that on the return trip I would have to depart from the BTC, quite a jaunt from the Fitz. So I had a buddy from Phoenix drop me off at the AP.
whatever route you take the scenery is very interesting.....assuming you like garbage strewn vacant lots and homeless people. i wouldn't take that bus ride at night if my life depended on it.

Jim: The buses aren't for everyone. We've gotten around town by cab, by bus and (from the airport) by airport shuttle. We can certainly afford a cab, but have had our share of unlikeable cab drivers, drivers who didn't know how to get somewhere, and attempts at long-hauling. I'd just rather not deal with that. If we're going somewhere that's easily accessible by bus (that includes the airport, although it's a little harder now to get to and from downtown), we have no problem with that. Most of the people on the bus are pleasant, working-class locals (tourists on the Strip buses, of course); you get some crazies, but I'm used to that from any big city, and I don't feel the need to stay away from such people. The buses have never felt dangerous to me. As for the scenery, I have no problem going through non-tourist areas. We're mostly downtown people, and there's plenty of urban squalor between the Strat and Fremont ST. You can bypass it via the interstate, but it's never bothered me to travel through the poor part of any city.

To each his own. You will find a lot of bus riders on these boards.

For the record, you've also just described much of the northern end of the Strip. For the "not if my life depended on it" trip, I recommend the 107 eastbound from downtown. Ride that once, and then you can provide some more "expert" commentary.

I've taken the bus from the South Strip to downtown well over 100 times. I've had one problem -- being offered drugs, and that was when the Deuce bus was right outside the Flamingo in the heart of the Strip.
