Alamo charging $1 on my credit card with reservation

I am now an Alamo Insider or Quicksilver (whichever is the current name, I have both cards and have no idea which one if either is better- same number). I guess when I use the Insider number which is attached to my credit card in my profile, I got a ping from my bank that Alamo charged me $1. Then I modified the reservation (as a result of this forum ty) and got another $1 ping.

Has this happened to anyone else and does anyone know is this just to validate the credit card? I tried to find the answer on the website and then gave up. I suspect if you are a no show they will charge you something since they have your card...so now I try to stay organized.

They saved me a lot of money even with the extra buck...

Thanks.

Never been hit with the buck on making a Quicksilver reservation with them. Last one made on 2/13.
They do it to mine also. It says on your credit card pending. It does go away. I think maybe their just making sure your credit card works. I book and rebook all the time as they go down and never worry because the $1 goes away.
Never heard of that before. I have a res with Alamo in Florida for next month and they did not charge me for that (at least not that I've seen).

Is it a credit card, or a debit card where you're seeing this $1 charge? Typically, credit cards don't show authorization charges when you look at your account online -- only finalized charges.

I suspect they're authorizing the card to make sure you're not providing a bogus number. I've gotten around that by creating a "virtual card number" (a service of Citibank credit cards, and perhaps others) that has a $10 maximum authorization amount. Should something happen where I forget to cancel a reservation, the most they could get out of me is $10.
Mine is a credit card and the only reason I know is because I looked it up online and it's listed under pending charges.
Mine is a credit card also.

I like the virtual card nunber with a limit of $10. I will see if Bank of America can do that for me.

Thanks.

I'm sure that B of A could do it but please remember that there's a $15/mth. fee to use this service
